Turbo Problems?...

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just getting some back ground info on this car really.

Just a quick question.. Is there any indication of the turbo going? I.e I no that the variable veins gets clogged up with carbon .. i assumed this was because you dont put your boot down enough to give it a clean out?...

Cheers

Chris

To be fair the turbo can fail as low as 40k according to reports of members on this forum and some have had upto 130k + so it all depends on your maintenance schedule and driving habits.

The turbo can fail if not looked after, follow the recommended advice be gentle with your driving style during the cold up period and allow the turbo to cool off at idle when stationary for a good 30 seconds will extend the life of the turbo, and follow 5-10k oil changes to avoid stressing the turbo and the veins from clogging with soot and etc...

The common reports of the turbos failing are:

Smokey on acceleration with a lack of boost

Loud screaming AKA police siren sound

Limp mode the car will not boost

I havent experienced any of this as such but its just the usual feedback from members on here..
