Road noise/loud suspension

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I feel my vRS is a bit too loud going over bumps. There is no knocking or anything, just that dull "thump" when going over almost any imperfection on the road. The noise is very noticable on both the front and rear suspension. I believe the noise developed progressively during the last year or so...

I think that somewhere along the line from the strut to tyre something is worn out, yes I only have ~66.000 km but a lot of it was done "spiritedly" :) Also, nevermind the new steering rack, the steering feel is still far from precise and crisp (as once was, when new cupra bushes were installed at ~30.000km).

Do I need new shocks, shock mounts/bearings, springs or some bushes to eliminate the noise and improve handling?

Has anyone had similar issues?

Shock absorber manufacturers swear I would solve all my problems installing new shocks :)

Thnx in advance for the replies.

P.S. I'm not into tuning much, so no coilover kits or similar interests me, just quality aftermarket parts (eg. Kayaba).

Could be dampers and or worn out springs. Also worth checking drop links and ARB bushes, and also the wishbone rear bush (consule bush). Also some makes of tyres get noisy as they wear.

I contacted sachs and KYB over getting aftermarket OEM quality shocks and dampers...apparently they don't do them for the vRS, which is a shame. Mine are worn too so going to be getting new springs and shocks, but have to go skoda.
