Stalling My 140 BHP

Featured Replies

Mines the same. Both me and the wife have stalled it. Only from standstill. Just not enough revs i presumed.

One thing i do like about it is the need to not use the accelerator in stop start slow moving traffic. Just let the clutch out slowly and it'll crawl along nicely.

Did the same on my old C5 but but the Yeti seems to cope better without the revs than that did.

There is a tendency for the 110 Yeti to stall. I did it at first when I got the Yeti after owning a Roomster. The difference I think is between the CR and PDI engines, however the 140 and 170 engines are more forgiving. It's just a question of getting used to the power delivery like also not trying to stay in 5th gear below 28mph!

The engine has a lot of low down torque but driving at very low revs not only causes the problems mentioned above it also transmits very high loads through the DMF causing premature wear leading to it needing early replacement.

We found the car stalled quite a bit to begin with, very unforgiving, but we got used to it fairly quickly. However, we had to have a new DMF before 30,000 miles so I think the above explanation sounds very plausible.

Yes with the PD engines you could - at idle - be quite brutal with letting the clutch up, it took a lot to stall the PD. You could stop/start in traffic, even on reasonable inclines, without needing any throttle.

The CR engines do stall more easily. Funnily enough I stalled mine a couple of days ago, for the first time in months, just turning round on the driveway.
