Immobiliser Chip for Second Key

Featured Replies

I recently bought a second hand 2007 Octavia Classic. The dealer provided me with two sets of keys, however only one has the immobiliser chip necessary to actually start the engine, making the second set pretty useless. Despite my complaints, he claimed that this was how they received the car when they bought it, so there isn't anything they can do :(

Is there anything I can do to get an immobiliser chip in the second set? Is a dealer the only option? If so, how much do you think this would cost?

I have a VW dealer sourcing the Skoda chip (different to the VW chip that was in the keys as delivered) for a remote key and a chip only key. I have the keys already, but like yours they only give access to the car, not start the engine.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks! But if you're in Australia then I guess it won't help me much? ;) Anyone in the UK have an answer?

So if the previous owner had another key cut,he could have the immoboliser chip, and theoriticaly come and take the car away from you.In my mind the dealer should be fixing this out for you.

I know these guys do complete keys including fobs, think it was aound £160 though i could be wrong, may be worth giving them a ring? caboodle
