Fabia 1.4MPI Manual 6Y/AME

Featured Replies

Hello all, from Singapore . . . ..

My first post and its riddled with questions . . . . . .

Just got this little fellow, about 5 years old and we intend to keep it running for another 5.

It will be a daily driver for my son to get to and from work.

Nice drive but its very lacking in the power department.

Besides "turboing it" any other ideas to give it maybe 20-30 extra horses and another 50-60 Nm torque ?

The gearbox, clutch, suspension and brakes are in pretty good nick but the paintwork

and the engine needs some work done.

I also have a problem with water on the floor boards, front/back, left and right as well.

I have read up a little about the water entering from the door/window seal here.

I've checked yesterday and it seems like its coming in from the seal between the door and

the "C" pillar. I stayed in the car while a friend when to town with a hose over the windows first

then the roof. Water started creeping in when he got to the roof.

The engine compartment is a little noisy, sounds like noisy tappets and or timing chain rattle.

Now this is about the only one of a handful still running around here and getting service/replacement

parts for is as easy as finding goldmine in your backyard.

So I am making a list of stuff that I intend to order from "Jorily" and was hoping all you seasoned campaigners

can chip-in and tell me if the bits are necessary or if there are bits/parts that are necessary that I've not included.

AP coliovers

We intend to have all this done to the car, maybe not at one go but as the finances allow, possibly within a 3-6 month period.

Anyone , any help / advise will be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hello and welcome to the Forum :hi:

The rear door leaks are very common to the Fabia (mine did and is now leaking again). This site gives a useful guide Fabia vrs.com - Door Carrier repair There is a thread on here which has more pics and a YouTube vid about it if you search.

As for looks/tuning IMO don't get angel eyes, they will look too 'chavy'. The bodykit does not look too bad. If you want uprated shocks, then Koni FSD are the way to go, and if want it to be lowered then Eiback springs with them. However that Koni sports kit is much cheaper. The alternative are coil-overs.

Thanks Jim for your comments.

Are you on lowered springs / coilovers ?

I will try to open up the door cards and have a look in there.

Anyone else can comment on the lowered springs / coilover ride comfort level ?

I don't need it to be jarring/too harsh.

Thanks.
