Best brake 'standard' brake pads/discs?

Featured Replies

I need to replace the front pads/discs on my Octy II 2.0TDi DSG Ambiente - it's now done 63,000 miles so they've lasted quite well  had a look on Euro Car Parts last night and there are pads made by Eicher, ATE, Pagid... all seem to list two different part Nos for the fronts all have the wear indicator thingy but I've no idea how I work out which ones I need and the prices range from £16 to £45 so don't want to waste money if the cheap ones are the same as the standarda 'as fitted at the factory' pads:

anyone confirm which to use? thanks in advance!

ATE and Pagid will be fine.

As for which part number. Ask the retailer what the part number differences are, and if you give them your reg plate they should be able to tell you the part you need.

Try GSF Car Parts also. When I replaced the front discs on my 3-Series Beemer (which has been replaced with an Octy vRS BTW) I was able to get Brembo's for around £22 each. They were superb quality standard discs from a leading brand !

Deffo go for the Pagid's have have had 2 sets of front discs n pads on my mk1 vrs and they both warped.....got a set of pagids from euros and they have been sweet, also sprayed so no rusty look after a few weeks!!!

the best would be ate they are original equipment on all vags. Cheap pads wont last long and will get a lot of dust on your nice rims!!
