What other engine mods have you had done, or is it completely standard with just a remap? what sort of effect has it had on fuel consumption and most importantly, how much did it cost ? ;)

If you have a search you will find masses of info ;)

that's a good improvement.

thats the sort of power gain you would expect from a standard vrs with a map! nice one mate!!!

i just relised you said amd essex my mate had his gttdi mapped there with a stage 2 hybrid and fmic, they rolled his car at 232bhp then we went to charley at surrey rolling road and it made 205 bhp and we have been using charley for years so we knew his rollers were rite, in the end amd admitted to optomistic rollers, im not pssing on your perade because they said they have had them recalibrated to avoid the same problems agen!! if you get a chance to roll somewhere else then do it! but eather way i bet the extra power feels great!

One of my mates (who used to be a member on here but now has a Golf) had a generic map, Forge 007P and panel filter from them on his VRS last year (not cheap I might add) and it was 210bhp and 250 ft/lbs after the map, took it out a couple of weeks later with my Liquid Gauge plugged in and it only made 217 ft/lbs although the bhp was near enough the same.

it is totally standard ecept the remap and 007p recirc valve and that come to £460 with the new recuirc valve fitted

i have asked them about the optomistic rollers they said they have been recalibrated and are spot on now and obv there will b veriation on roller and road as in due to tire wear air temp and humidaty road surface and ect .and the extra power surprices alot of things lol cant wait to lowwer mine and give it more power i want 300bhp at the wheels garret t28 conversion and front mount exhaust and filter

put a 28 on lol and have every k03s octy go past you lol the worst setup for this car

lots of money and loads of lag lol

get you car running a hybrid unit for silmilar power and no lag

ko4 hybrid all the way ;)

I'm getting mine remapped in 3 weeks so will report back with graphs.

mike you want any spare body panels buddy????

Looking forward to it mate. Hopefully I won't need any panels mate.

Hello Chaps,

my 2p's worth;

My '52 Octy Elegance 1.8t was remapped by R-Tech last March ('09) at 30,000 & in good health.

It transformed the car (in a very positive way)

No figures before but at Surrey Rolling Road Charlie got 205bhp & 234lb/ft after the remap

it's now at 44k & no probs at all, still running sweet as a nut.

It does throw up an error code for "boost limit exceeded" (or something like that, can't remember the code number) but I don't even bother to clear it,it always comes back but is not an issue or anything to worry about.

Only other mod btw,is a Pipercross panel filter

I wouldn't think that was nothing to worry about if it were me

I'm no expert but I wouldn't be happy with that

Same here. Did they give you a boost plot when you had the remap done, or do you have a boost gauge fitted?

I had mine remapped at 72k and when APS took it out to test it they said they have driven many remapped vRS'es, yet mine felt more responsive. They put it down to the higher then average mileage on the car.

Although in the first year of owning it I did have a new throttle body put on it..

no boost plot,& no boost gauge fitted.

The error code is 17963

I have the rolling road graph if that's of any interest to anyone.

I spoke to R-Tech about it,& they said it was nothing to worry about. If it was,the car would go into limp mode (it has never done so)

But it sounds like it's over boosting which can't be alright as its throwing a code, I'm not sure of the full implications of over boost to be honest, but it doesn't sound good
