Parrot always on

Featured Replies

Hi

First post on the forum.

I have installed my new parrot it all works fine but it is always on.

I have wired the mains feed into the +ve red and black cable on the cigarette lighter which is suspect is my issue.

I assume i just need to switch it to an ignition feed but have lost my tester to find one.

Any chance anyone can point me in the right direction.

One into the back of the stereo I can chock block into would be nice and easy.

Cheers

Hi Bungle

You have not said what car/radio you have, but there is usually a red and yellow on the Parrot, as you say one goes to the 12+ and one to the IGN feed and

if wrong you just swap over, but both feeds are taken from the back of the radio.

But if you have a newer car with can-bus you will need a Adapter as the bit that switches off the radio comes from the ecu

Ive got the standard head unit in an 07 plate ambiente 1.9tdi - nothing special i know

Surely if it works fine but is always on when fed from the battery feed to the cigarette lighter i just need to find an ignition feed and tap off that

That will solve the always on issue and the unit will only be live when the car is running

I've a Fabia II Estate (registered 2009), the cigarette lighter on my car is permanently live and as RADIOTWO has stated, there's no 12V switched to the radio. There's two options available, the first is to obtain an ignition sense module, I got mine from a I.C.E. dealer in Sheffield, they're about £15 but my experience with the one that's in my Fabia is that it works about 75% of the time with the current car kit I've installed.

The second method is to wire from the fuse box, my local dealer was unable to advise or supply a connector to fit into a free holder behind the fuse box, but I have found a piggyback fuse adaptor (see here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/164189-octavis-vrs-parrot-ck3100-install/page__p__2012645__hl__fuse%20holder__fromsearch__1entry2012645 and eBay item 330417642445). Then again, you can always use this method: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/153109-wiring-question/page__p__1905872entry1905872. Perhaps not as elegant, but does the same job.

I'm due to fit an mki9200 in the next few days once I've got all the relevant bits, I'll take some photos and post them on the forum if that's any help.
