1.8T 4x4 Caliper Type

Featured Replies

Does anyone know whether the front calipers on the 4x4 are FSIII or FN3 ones? I know the disc size is smaller than the VRS but are the calipers the same?

i might be able to take the wheel off mine and have a look for any markings for you, but it wont be until friday as she has the car and im on nights this weeks

its the same caliper but different carriers buddy  ( 90% sure)

Thanks Clive, yep I would think the carriers are larger on the VRS to position the caliper further out as the disc is bigger

Clive is right. Calipers are the same just the carrier are smaller for the 288mm disks. its the rears that are totally different as they are solids on the 4x4 and vented on the vrs.

Interesting stuff.

Do I just get the carriers for a vrs or a different part number altogther?

Also Mintex disc's?

This is where I wish VAG-Cat was still working, could get the part no's

I guess if you have a 4x4 then you want the caliper carriers specific to the 4x4 and 1.8T not the VRS, and the 288mm discs instead of the 312 on the VRS. Unless you upgrade the whole lot to VRS size.

For my 4x4 I would really like the 312mm discs on the front and keep the oem discs on the back.

So bigger carriers, pads and discs, but anyone know part numbers?

Have a look in the DIY part numbers sticky at the top of this forum.

Or buy aftermarket front discs and pads which are suited to the VRS then you just have to buy the caliper carriers (and paint your calipers Minz Green ;) )

if the callipers are the same do we have the same struts but with different springs on them?
