What poxy poxy poxy job that was replacing the fuse in order to get the rear cigar lighter working !! Talk about the fuse not being in the standard fuse box area on the side of the dash when front door is opened !! All i know was, that from reading previous threads going back months, it was situated right behind the footwell above the the throttle peddle and basically almost out of reach.

The reason why i replaced it, was one of my girls...bless them stuck a pen inside the lighter and shorted it..hence the blown fuse!! And then they moan that they couldnt connect the dvd power supply plug to the socket...so i was thinking...is there any way one can link the rear cigar lighter to the front via joining the wiring that connects the front lighter? The reason being...is that its a hell of a lot easier to replace the fuse!!...would one have to increase fuse amperage if the two are connected??

What got me,, :giggle: was the fact the fuse holder had a lug on the edge...basically restricting the fuse removal...and unless one has small double jointed hands and slender fingers...access is pathetic and being so close to the main metal structure that the dash is fixed to. I couldnt believe how stubborn the fuse was to remove!! And i must also point out, that if it hadnt been for some previous post on where the rear cigar lighter fuse actually was...id still be out there looking for it !! cheers...andy

If its just working a DVD player why not add in an inline fuse using a lower amp fuse and fit it somewhere easy to get at. Philip

Hi philip...i did consider that.....would have been nice if the fuse box near the front door had a spare terminal to actually use.......but like you say.......an inline fuse and maybe tapped into another power scource sounds a lot easier than dismantling the lower dash and having to squeeze into the tightest of spaces just to replace a fuse!!....i suppose being stubborn doesnt help.......i always seem to do it the hard way and bypass the easy options. Hopefully it will be easier when the workshop manual comes through the post shortly......at least i'll know how to do caertain things on the car without having to guess.
