Engine Stall with DSG vRS TSi

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, i took delivery of a white RS Wagon TSi DSG Wagon with all the optioned ticked 2 months ago, awesome car and my first auto box after a Legacy RBspec manual sedan.

I'm experiencing a problem with the DSG, its stalled on me twice now both in the rain and tonight about to head over the Harbour Bridge in peak hour. Its done it twice where i'm slowing and the gearbox is changing down gears at about 15kms or so, i'm not stopped but i'm slowing to a crawl. After tonight i'm now frustrated with it a bit because i can't be rolling and start it in neutral, I have to stop throw it in park and kick it over again.

Its been trying to stall on me a number of times now and i can feel and see the rpm bouncing below 900rpm or idle and then it settles and it fine. Its one of those intermittent problems but and i can go 2 wks and it won't fo it.

I was just wondering if anyone had experinced this before. The cars done 3200 k's, it did it from new and when i took the car in for is 1500km check, they could find any faults but they are aware of the problem.

I have no problems with the dealer they have been excellent to deal with but just wanted to check with the friendly skoda community over there.

Cheers Pete

Can you get anyone to scan it with VCDS for fault codes?

Best thing if it's new just take it to the dealer though

Hi Pete,

When it's next about to stall, if you hit the AC button to turn off aircon, just as the engine starts to struggle, this should instantly kill the engine. If it does, it's a known problem and there's a firmware update for the car's ECU to fix it and there's a bulletin the dealers have access to that describes the AC button thing.

Hope this helps!

Ok this is an old post, but I am getting mine looked at again for the same issue. Back in 2010 it had the clutch pack replaced but I still get the issue and it stalled again today. Did the OP get it sorted and has anyone got this problem?

Hey Pete, did you ever get your stalling problem sorted? I have had the same issue for a while now and have just now seen your post, so wondering if you had any success and, if so, what was the solution?

I've shown this thread to my service guys and they still can't understand why mine stalls in built-up traffic.

Thanks.

I still get it!
