Headlight options

Featured Replies

If the fabia i bought doesnt come with xenons is there anyway in getting a set of xenon headlights, what work would have to be done to install them etc? And im guessing hids arent a good idea considering they arent a projector type headlight

cheers

you could retro-fit xenons but the costs are not really worth it, you'd be looking at a few hundred pounds at least! i dont know the exact costs but gonna guess around £600.

or you could get uprated bulbs, i got some 'metal blue' ones off ebay and they have lasted well (over 2yrs so far) and give off a very good light without being too much or illegal.

I used to have a Fabia vRS a few years ago and I used their kit - they do bulbs with an anti glare coating for non-projector style headlights :D

My mate has the 55w kit in his 1 series, 5000k and it is awesome, much brigher than my OEM xenons

Oh and by the way they are a doddle to fit, took me a couple of hours cos you really have to take the headlights out, but if ur even only slightly competent with cars its easy :giggle:

Before you do... do a search on the aftermarket HID subject...

I have spared the kitten. Only this time though....

Wasnt my main question though, i was asking about xenons which are factory style and a search didnt bring up any relevant results. Thanks though :)

You had any luck yet? I had a quick look on www.hids4u.co.uk today and you can get the 55w kit with the anti-glare coating on for £120 quid... Bargain :giggle:

I paid about double that a couple of years ago :(

If you need any help with fitting etc give me a shout and I can help as much as I can over here but it really isn't a hard job.

Most people will recommend 6000K but IMO that still appears too blue and can look a little bit chavvy. 5000K is the one to go for, best visibility with a pure white light output and still a great style advantage over halogen :D

You're joking? There are at least three threads on retrofitting xenons and only one of them ends happily. If you want to do it, your best bet is to find a donor car and strip the lights, front bumper (with washers), 5l washer bottle, pump, bulbs, ballasts, loom, ECU, dashpod, dashboard light adjust switch and rear axle sensor from it. That's what Ross Clarke (Lummox) did when he built his Fabia vRS estate. The crashed donor vRS hatch had xenons and he just transferred the parts across. These cars do come up on ebay from time to time, so it's worth keeping an eye out.

Well all due respect to the people doing it, they musn't have done it properly

Mine was great when it was done, just took a bit longer as you have to take the headlights out. If you know what you're doing its simple

Ah then again, all I'm talking about is fitting an aftermarket HID kit not fitting an OEM kit :giggle:

Being a tight git I achieved a cracking result with 130W 'Rally' bulbs off fleabay £1.95 per bulb
