Looking For An Octavia Any Help?

Featured Replies

Well the time is slowy starting to come when I could maybe get rid of my stunning little fabia, warranty will be running out shortly. And am not a huge fan of auto and petrol for the new fabia vrs.

However there seems to be some cracking deals on nearly new pre owned Octavia vrs tdi's. I do lots of miles, love gutsy dervs and of course skoda's so the octavia is a great choice. I know there is a facelift version with the DRL's but beside the cosmetic side is there any real diffrence between the cars. And also is there anything I should be looking for in my octavia vrs, if there is any weak links.

I would also like to avoid the dsg as I enjoy using a manual

So please any help and guidance would be mostly appreciated :) Thank you

Pre 2008 they were PD engines but from 58-plate on i think they changed to CR's. Mine is a CR engine and on a 58-plate.

The main difference between the FL and preFL TDI VRS is the actual engine. Most preFL are the PD engine while the FL models are new CR engine. The CR engine is more refined, quieter, more progressive and more fuel efficient compared to the PD. I used to have the PD and loved the sudden surge of power it gave but it did not make for the smoothest of rides. I now have driven 80 miles in my new CR and it is a different drive and much easier to drive smoothly. I am also already seeing 48mpg on the computer to work (best I got from PD was 47mpg!!!!) so I am very hopeful for even more from the CR once run in. I would test drive both the PD and CR and pick the one you like the best.

my current car is a 58 plate pre-FL and its the CR engine

mega car, love it, getting a new FL soon too, the engine is great.

There are a number of small differences on the FL but they all add up. The obvious things like the new lights and DRLs, and the new wheels. The interior with the new dials and lighting, and the touchscreen stereo.

As already said the CR engine, IMHO, transforms the car but you could still get this engine on the pre-FL model.

The overall drive is very similar. Best thing to do is look at both, and compare the prices.

Thank you all for your help, it seems the FL does have its values, and i assume driving both styles of engine would be best the option, its just working it out if the extra £££ will be worth a FL.

I had a 2.0TDI PD140 before now and could manage 55-58MPG on commute to work (though this was DSG) - 51K on it when it went

My 2.0TDI CR170 now manages about 55 on the computer, andi it only has 3K on the clock

Hoping it'll get even better with time, but the CR is such a smoooooooth drive - it's a an absolute peach.

where r u based Torque there are a couple of excellent looking 08 Race Blue vRS's at Derek Slacks in Middlesbrough for around £14k

Around ripley way, and i know, there is a black 58plate vrs with only 13k on the clock for £14k very very tempting
