Just to claify:

So the coolant temperature goes up (beyond half-way on the gauge) and the engine overheats?

if the Climate Control is switched off then the fan cuts in?

The temp does not go high or above 90. The reason for the post is that the climate is not that good, i know the Octy is a big car but it takes a good 10 miutes for cold air to come through. I have read on other posts about ensuring the fans spin but that is as far as the advice goes. I have looked on line in the manual and via ETKA but nothing really relates to fuses etc, I am stumped and i do not want a huge bill just because i was being a little dumb or ill prepared

The normal cause of the Aircon taking a long time to get cool is low pressure in the aircon system. A simple and cheap regas is the most logical first step, phone around locally for the best price should be able to get it done for £30-£45

Thanks for the advice but do the fans need to spin or not, TBH I had it regassed last year by a local specialist and he didnt say much...silent type if you know what i mean....so he didn't offer much in the way of how much gas was in it or if the system was fully functional. A VCDS scan does not throw up any errors so I am confused.....

Hust wondered if the octy has a fuse box near the battery cus from past experience the fuse relating to the cooling fans on my lcr went bang but the car didn't show anything up on the dash as expected until I spoke to man in the know and it was the small fuse located near the battery all in all it cost 2.00 quid to fix rather than a stupid unecessary bill its worth a try B)

Funny you should say that......i read a similar thing on the Golf mkIV forum, so this morning armed with a can of WD40 an owners manual in hand i looked in the fuse box.My car was an ex rep car and guess what half the fuses that should have been there weren't or were the wrong value stealers trying to get extra work from leasing??? I sprayed liberally as there were signs of corrossion on the fuses, I turned the fuses 180 and on start up the fans started to spin....result, great minds think alike thanks for the prompt. Roy
