yeah thats perfect. if it hasnt been started for a while it'll sit at 1200rpm for a minute or so before dropping to 750rpm

Sorry to drag up an old post but just searching re idle speed.

Just had my 2006 tfsi vrs serviced and thermostat changed. The mechanic who did it said he cleaned throttle bodies whilst he had parts off. Now it feels so much more responsive and nicer to drive, but seems to be idling at nearer to 900 rpm where as it was 750 before it went in.

Is this a problem? Car almost feels too keen to go at low speeds if that makes sense!

Since I have had mine, it always once warmed up, idles at a steady 750rpm.

Hi. Mine did before, so am assuming it's something that has been touched. I'll give the garage a call tomorrow but wondered if anyone knew what it might be?

Just to update this incase of use to anyone . Drove the car first thing this morning, revs still high at idle, popped the air con on economy ( didn't realise it had been turned on ) and revs dropped back to where they should be !

Seems fine now even if putting the air con on. Strange but hopefully all sorted.

Car does seems almost a little too eager to go since the work, it feels like when I press the throttle it takes a split second longer than before to react to me easing off. I'm putting this down to the fact the throttle was dirty and not working as well before the work though and perhaps this is how it should be?

Probably just did a throttle alignment using vcds after cleaning throttle body. People report car to be more responsive afterwards.

Cheers for the reply, it feels like a different car so am happy it's money well spent.

Does this need to be done or will the car self adjust/learn?

From what I've read since I think it self adjusts. Mine certainly seems to have adjusted itself anyway.
