312 brakes from dealers

Featured Replies

I am after a set of 312 brakes for my fabia vrs. I need the whole set including discs and pads and would like to buy them as a complete set ie oem discs and pads. I have looked on e bay and really cant see any on there! Does anybody know how much i would pay if i was to go straight to the dealer and buy them?? Also would i be better buying the oem discs and pads or good quality ones from the likes of ferodo or mintex ect?

cheers!

I have no idea on the costs from dealer TBH.

Pads/discs wise, stick with the OEM disc and pad set up to start with as this will be more than adequate for you to get used to the increased stopping power.

Once they've warn out I would go for Ferrodo DS2500 all the way

cost well over 4 figs for complete set up from dealers...

either..for sale section/ebay/breakers yards.....octy vrs mk1/golf anniversary/audi tt >04/golf tdi gt......then get mintex pads/discs from ebay.

calipers

i got calipers and carriers from this guy:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-AUDI-SEAT-SKODA-312mm-FRONT-BRAKE-CALIPERS-CARRIERS-/270594336639?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f00ade77f

he has one set left.

then you can buy OEM discs and pads from a dealer or any other combination from a motorfactors.

one thing i will say after having my brakes fitted today is you wont regret upgrading, mines are still bedding in but the difference is amazing.

312's good

but 323 brembo's better 8)

you cant have red non brembo calipers, looks sooo wrong

brembo calipers do look good without a doubt

just don't let the likes of StevieWonder or Brimma join in, they'll make even 323 Brembo's feel inadequate :o

tbh brembo's and 312's arent soo dis-similar on the move, yes the 4 pot brembos will be slightly better at decelerating but i doubt by much, its the around town snappy-ness of the 4 pots i love....

Just dont try jumping straight out of the crappy old work van and into the car or you'll whack your nose off the steering wheel.

I let the other half drive my fabia practicing on a private road, was quite funny watching a learner discover 4 pots for the first time :L

Did you only need to get a set of discs and pads, then these just bolted straight on?

yeah, it was calipers complete with carriers so was a case of unbolting the old ones and putting them on, no hassles at all.

the seller did have sets with discs and pads too but cant see them anymore unless you want a new rear setup too.

i just wanted to source my own discs and pads. :D

his advert seems to have finished on ebay now! will just have to keep looking i suppose

He's listed as a different seller I believe, something like gbautomotive i think!

I too am after this upgrade and want to source my own discs and pads. I've had Brembo OEM discs and Pagid pads from GSF before and these seemed to be quite good (they weren't on the VRS though)

those calipers are to fit a mk5 golf...

ahh soz...just searched for audi/vw 312's looked the correct ones..

ahh soz...just searched for audi/vw 312's looked the correct ones..

they might fit, i'm not sure tho i guess an email to the seller may confirm what cars they would suit.

i'm not sure if the calipers an carriers will be different on newer models.

upon looking at the correct ones and comparing them with the mk5 ones, i'd say the carriers are totally different, the bolt holes are spaced further apart on the mk5's.

i also see the same seller now has more sets of calipers and carriers up:

those + discs & pads = sorted.
