Fabia VRS faulty speaker connection

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

After buying my three year old VRS I noticed an intermittent problem whereby the left hand door speaker cuts in and then out.

I have removed the rubber boot (between door and post) and checked the connectors into the door pillar but seems okay physically. However the speaker cuts in / out when the cable is tuggged. I guess I have to remove the glovebox etc to access the connecter from the back.

Any issues known with this job and is it likely to upset the airbag?

Mych appreciated.

Should be fine as far as the airbag goes - I did a guide for the heater / air con control panel on the Fabia which explains how to get the entire dash out if necessary. I'd post the link, but I'm browsing on my phone - sorry! Think it's pinned in the Fabia section, though...

It takes about 5minutes to take the glove box out (mine does not have air bag on passenger side)

1. empty out glove box, it makes it easier to handle because of the extra weight.

2.remove the 'moon' shaped dash/glove box side panel, with a screwdriver ,has about 4 sprung clips.

3. remove 2 torque screws bottom outside of glove box either end

4. remove 3 torque screws inside top of glove box..(take the weight of the box, when all the screws are out).

5.move box down and outwards about 6 inches ,and pull off the rubber pipe which feeds cold air into the glove box.

6. Carefully spring the two wire plug inwards to release the catch, and remove the plug and cable from the glove box light.

7.The glove box can now be lifted clear.

8.Only thing to be careful of is it is quite easy to spring the glove box light switch apart ,into springs and other bits.

AndyPandy, you're spot on. It took me 5 minutes to remove the glove box last night and I found the loose connection in a few minutes. We have stereo sound again!

Thanks a million.
