Late delivery

Featured Replies

I ordered my VRS estate DSG in February and 4 weeks ago was told it would be in the dealers on 28 June 2010. I have now been told it will be 17 October 2010. My order is through Lex leasing, is that why I have to wait so long because I am a lease customer? Is anyone else have the same problems with alte delivery?

Wish I had gone for the Passat now my colleague took delivery today, ordered on the same day.

With that significant a change in delivery date, I guess you could now cancel and go elsewhere without any financial consequence. 4 months is bad enough; 8 months is a joke! It would be great to have someone on this forum who is more experienced in Skoda's ordering/manufacturing process to explain what that process is and what could account for this sort of quantum change in delivery timescale.

bad news, my current car is showing signs and the vrs should turn up on the 1st sep :S its going to be a long summer. good luck

I contacted the stealer yesterday, expecting to be arranging collection of my vrs cr estate as they have been quoting a wk 24 build week since order on 2nd April.

How surprised (p**~ed off) was I to hear the build had been delayed and would not be built till wk 31! with delivery mid aug. The reason given for the delay was the factory shut down (stealer are saying 3 weeks). What they couldn't explain was the reason for the other 4 week delay.

Skoda UK couldn't give any further details either usual contact dealer run around

Anyone else had similar news?

This has put our trip to france at the end of the month in jeopardy, sold the roof bars for the mondy and bought for the octy so cant take roof box.

The stealer did offer their greenline estate to take to france if they haven't sold it but I can't plan around a maybe.

Do you think Skoda uk might lend a car for the trip?

Any ideas on what I could/should be asking for as compensation for the delay? Free servicing?

My VRS Petrol Turbo (reverse sensors, spare wheel) is due to be built this week (26) after ordering on 3/05/10 (18), I will leave it till Monday/Tuesday next week to check to see if it has happened or not.

The trend imo seems to be longer delivery times for Diesels and/or DSG?

That's not a delay - that looks more like they've cancelled the order and placed a fresh one as that's about the lead time on new orders.

great. I have ordered a DSG Auto L&K with extras. when I purchased (5th May) I told them I wanted it for my birthday - second week of Aug - and told no problem.

Three weeks later I was being told that it was delayed three weeks, so it would be ready on the 23rd. I have told them that I dont want it now until the 1st Sept. Even so, they are not updating me, even when I asked for the Skoda order number.

Call me a cynic, but I still think some dubious stealers are re-selling ordered cars. A wait from February to June only to be told it's now October either means the car was never ordered it in the first place, or they've sold the ordered car and are forcing a re-order. :(

Go to another dealer imo

Why is it, when I order a new Skoda on March 31st, am told it'll be here Aug 31st, yet someone else orders the same model 3 weeks later is told it's just been delivered! grrrrr

I ordered my VRS Estate CR on the 12th April and picked up my car last Monday (21st June) but could have picked it up the previous week had I not been away. Sounds like something a little fishy is going on with the dealer.

that sounds extremely dodgy

I just got an email from my dealer. They have been given a build date of week 30 for my fully optioned Scout (everything except SatNav and MDI) ordered on 7th June (order no. 900179) . By my reckoning, week 30 is the last week of July (so I'm guessing this is straight after their factory closure - does anyone know the actual close down dates?) and represents 8 weeks from order to build, which I'm pretty happy with after hearing some of the delivery delay horror stories on this forum. Of course, there's plenty of water to pass under the bridge between now and the end of July, so there's still plenty of time for that date to be amended... :smirk:

I've just ordered a TDi vRS and been told its 12-14 weeks including a 3 week factory closedown. Roll on October then!

vRS petrol DSG estate ordered 28th April.

Car now at dealers. Signing finance agreement today. Collecting Tues or Wed next week.

9 weeks or so - seems I was lucky!! There is such a huge disparity in delivery times. I'd love to know why?

dunc.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ordered week 17, delivery in 16 weeks!! (including shutdown at factory)

VRs Diesel manual hatch, Red with Zenons.

I am getting bit nervous this will be put back, then I think I'll have to cancel.

As with many people on this forum,I was quoted 12 weeks ( I think dealers have been told to say this), any longer when asking I think people would laugh and walk out of dealer with their money..

I've just recently re-aquainted myself with the parallel universe that is Skoda's ordering system when buying a new Fabia for the wife. Delivery is being quoted at between 16 and 22 weeks depending on specification. I am curious as to how a minor change in spec can move a delivery date by 6 weeks.

I experienced this before with the new Octavia I bought last year. If I had believed the delivery dates I might have missed getting the VAT free deal as I found out later the actual deivery times were later than quoted. A similar worry applies to the current VAT offer on the Fabia. So I did what I did before and got an unallocated one that was already on the boat. Had to compromise on the spec a bit but at least I knew where I stood delivery wise.

So if somebody can explain how the Skoda delivery time continuum works I would be grateful for future reference.

My Octavia Scout was ordered from Lex leasing, on the 2nd of April and i was told it would be here for mid-July. i'm now being told that it won't be built until the w/c 23rd August with delivery in September / October...........

Sounds familiar! :wonder:
