Gathering Interest - EGR delete pipes

Featured Replies

I'm currently enquiring about getting these made, for around £40 each.

If I was to get a batch made, would anybody be interested in buying one!?

Chris.

i dont understand there purpose....remove the vacuum pipe and block...costs nothing, and on blt engines the anti shudder is retained.

I have ASZ :)

It also looks 100x better in the bay...

granted they do...if the engine cover isnt there of course.. :p

I wish you had made this comment about a week ago.

I have just fitted a replacement unit to my BLT engine and has caused nothing but problems so far.

first off the cooler broke, then the Hose to the replacement unit keeps on falling off.

Then the main vacuum supply line to the vacuum manifold collapsed. And not forgetting the continuous error on the dash because of the Anti-shudder valve being disconnected (at present)

If i had thought about it a little more this suggestion of yours would have been a mition times better. (cheaper too)

so you've fitted an allard power pipe? what cooler broke? there shudnt be a vacuum pipe on now though? and if a correct size jubilee clip is fitted the pipe shudnt come off as theres a raised lip on the allard pipe end...have you replaced the 90 degree pipe that goes on the allard pipe?

So looks like this thread only applys to ASZ engines then lol...

Youll still get the soot from the exhaust though even with pipe unplugged??

Best off gettn egr delete and also ccv mod!! No oil and no soot means clean full cold boost :8

I just makes sense doesn't it!?

how much difference do these actually make anyway? is it noticeable emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'm not really sure as i've not yet fitted one, however, just the knoewledge you're boosting nice and cleanly is enough to make me wanna do it!

Well tbh i doubt you'll notice but your engine will be relieved!! And your turbo will not get cloged up with sticky oily soot!!!

The egr puts soot into the intercooler pipes the crank case vent puts hot oil vapours into the intercooler pipes also which results in thick sticky black tar which clogs everything up and acts as a lubricant so your intercooler pipes pop off all over the place!! Do both mods and you'll do your car the world of good!! My boost pipes are now cleab as a whistle and dont pop off anymore

BOOM.

As mentioned above, the engine bay looks 100x better also.

cheers, to be honest ive only had the car a couple of mths so havent done anything towards 'power mods' yet, been concentrating on getting her looking a bit prettier...emoticon-0103-cool.gif .. but i have noticed how FILTHY everything around the egr system and intercooler actually gets! as i gave the engine bay a good clean when i first bought her emoticon-0148-yes.gif

*edit* mines a 55plate BLT btw so are these not suitable anyway?

yes they still go on but you'll lose the anti shudder valve...

:giggle: how can you? with the vacuum unplugged the plunger cant work thats lets the inert gas from the exhaust manifold back in... ;)

am i right in thinking that the low rev range below 2k would become lumpy/stuttery then? emoticon-0148-yes.gif

No it idles fine its just when turning off sometimes feels like a stall!!

Also anti shudder valve gets lost on both asz and blt engines

wont make any diff to running of car...anti shudder operates when engine is stopped..not sure how much it effects the engine when ignition is stopped as ive just disconnected the egr so still have the anti shudder in situ...although the allard egr delete pipes do look nice, with the engine cover on you cant see it anyway,so imo why waste £60 + time/labour fitting one when disconnecting the vacuum to the egr does exactly the same job...ie stops the inert exhaust gases re entering the engine.

cheers gents, looking good under bonnet doesnt matter to me,aslong as she's running as well as can be , something else to look into then emoticon-0148-yes.gif , i did buy this car as money saving idea.... but still cant help but play with it a little tho emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ....

emoticon-0148-yes.gif .... is there a guide on here somewhere? ill av a search emoticon-0148-yes.gif

yup about ten pages long!!

best thing for ccv mod is!!

dr pepper bottle cap and washing maching hose from homebase!! trust me it fits right in retaining original metal clip! just vent to air :)

cost = under a fiver

as banana says its a long thread and most imo have went way way overboard with catch cans etc....simple solution is remove the pipe from the crankcase and cut the pipe that goes into the turbo intake to about 6" long and plug the open end...then run a washing machine waste pipe hose >>>>>p4761733_l.jpg

from the crankcase breather opening, run it down the back of the engine , few cable ties needed and let it vent under the back of engine to atmosphere...coupled with disconnecting the egr the engine now only breathes clean air.....

just do it.....
