Fabia Oil pressure sensor

Featured Replies

My Sisters oil pressure warning light and buzzer has been coming on in her 2001 fabia 1.4. I had a look at the oil pressure sensor and there was oil present in the connection between the wire and the sensor, presume this means the sensor is unserviceable. I then unscrewed the sensor from the engine and this caused oil to leak out. Is it necessary to drain the Oil from the engine to replace the sensor?

No, new sensor can be fitted with oil still in the engine.

Ok, Thanks, Is oil being present in the sensor connector a thing that happens when the sensor fails?

Yes, the internal seal fails and some oil weeps out, knackers the contacts and finds it's way into the wiring connector.

Just thought I would add that I had the same intermittent Oil warning light (Red) + Beeping coming up in my 2001 Fabia.

Pulled the connector off the oil pressure sensor (Found on front of engine towards passenger side) - Easy check to do.

When the connector was off some oil was dripping out (I had not unscrewed the sensor at this point)

Bought a new sensor and replaced (Just unscrew old one and quickly screw new one in) and now seems to be working fine.

When you get your replacement sensor check that the screw thread is the right size, I was given a new sensor with a 10mm thread and my old one was 15mm - Maybe this was just a bad supplier as I gave them my reg no and they gave me the wrong part!
