First Service Stories

emoticon-0104-surprised.gif Just had my first service on my Octavia.

The variable interval service plan from EMAC has a short fall in the finances , possibly due to me taking the car in at 11 months instead of 12 months (holiday looming with large mileage projected).

Will have to get the DD adjusted.

A month ago when I wound up the drivers window, there was a VERY loud bang and a tinkle when it shut. I taped off the switch and asked for it to be checked.

The reply was that they plugged the window into the computer and no fault was reported. They've also lubricated(?) the window. Seems to be OK now , but what was the scary sound?

Reported an occasional whoosh/loud sigh from the turbo? when changing gear at low speed . But nothing found as expected.

Moaned about the fuel consumption , 48mpg at best. Met with a stony glare.

The bill also said something like your car has been washed and vacuumed at no extra charge. Oh no it hadn't. I had an extra cuppa while this was done.

So not a resounding success for me but the 20,000 mile service was less than expected at about £160 when I paid the short fall.

Could have been worse, I might have misfuelled the loan car. emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

My car goes in next Thursday for its first service TSI going to supply my own oil.... Castrol Edge YES have checked right oil for variable Just wondering how much I will save?? will let you know...yours is a diesel but I would have thought on the first service they will do the same checks. 4 x wheels (yes) brakes (yes) car starts (yes) etc....... :D

Mine is due in 2 months time. Luckily it came with 3 years free servicing.

Even so, not something I relish.

Mine just had it's first 'free' service.

Biggest problem was convincing the servicing garage (I bought elsewhere), so take the paperwork from VAG finance the first time then it should be OK.

Hi

If any one that is going to give the dealer own oil to use that lives with south of England might like to know that SCATS are doing 5L (yes 5) of Total 507/504 spec oil for only £14! When I was in there buying my hedge cut bits I noticed it, don't know why it's so cheep bar that it's French...

James

Just had my 1st variable service @ 2 years/13,000 miles. Cost was £199.

1 warranty issue also fixed FOC, amplified Aerial changed as I lost FM a few weeks before service was due.

The only fault in 2 years, good going!
