Is it suitable for PD engines ?? ( VW505.01 or above)

I've just checked on Mobil's website, it looks like it is VW504/507 compliant, so yes, it is good for PD engines. I think the pack is only 4 litres, but that is still a very good price for this. Look on the bottle when you buy it to be sure.

It is VW spec 504.00/507.00 and 5ltrs, not 4 what you get at Halfrauds.

Dunno if your asda made a mistake but at york one now and it,s £32 for 5 litres and £8.50 for a litre :( and i've just checked at the counter

£16 for 507 spec, well cheap , ill have a look next time im in, need to service my car actually.

Went into my local ASDA at tea time to buy some more,Sold out of MOBIL ,But the price was still £16 on the shelf strip.

Went to my skoda dealer for an oil filter today, got asked if i wanted any oil when i said i cant afford your prices the guy went on the computer and said he can do it for £19.50+vat. Needless to say i got it lol.

It's 5w40 fully synthetic and they use it in all the skoda's apart from variable servicing, so the guy said.

Quantem , VW's own brand. Guy was the area service manager (think he said they had 5-6 skoda franchies), he said that no matter which model you have when you get a service that's what they put in apart from long life

Guess what, my local ASDA now has full shelves of Mobil,but i do not think it will fly off the shelves any more ,The Buggers have put the price back to £32.

£32 is still a pretty good price for 5 litres of VAG 507 though.

OP didnt make a mistake, I went in to my Asda and the shelf where the MOBIL 1 ESP 5/30 was had half price lables all over it, down from £32 to £16, note i said "where" as the aisle looked like old mother hubbard's cupboard as the shelves were all bare! someone somewhere has a good stock of quality oil at a cheap price!!!! unfortuantely I got none although I'd be happy to get it at the £32 price!!!!!!

Erm, no.

the 1.8 litres refers to the cc's of the engine.

It will take approx 4 - 4 1/2 litres of oil. (look in the handbook for the exact amount - it should give two amounts, one with the filter change and one without)

According to Haynes, the 1.8 petrol engine (Octavia) takes 4.5 litres with a filter change

I bet a heck of a lot of that oil ends up on Ebay actually.

Strange that some stores had the offer and some didn't . :wonder:

Well since this thread first started I've visited 5 different Asda stores and none of them which sell Mobil 1 ESP had it on sale for less than £30 :'(
