3rd brake light cover

Featured Replies

I've been cleaning my car interior and windows. When it came to cleaning the boot window i can't access the glass behind the high level brake light. There is a small gap between the glass and the brake light cover. I haven't been brave enought to pull this cover hard enough to remove (or break) it and I can't see any screws or any clips.

Surely there must be a way?

When i got mine tinted, the tinting guy said something about it being glued on and he didnt want to pull too hard incase it broke.

he just slid the tint film up the glass to get it in

sorry :S

Although it is possible it could be glued, I would recon it is just clipped. This is a common way of fitting this type of cover, had it on my Yaris and just had to pop it off to fit Yaris logo over rear light :giggle:B) Not tried the Skud, though! (Yet).

Don't think it will be glued, " How would you change the bulbs "??

they are LED (or they look like LED to me).

I went to the dealer and asked how i could take the cover off. They said i would need to order a whole unit because the cover is part of the whole unit and that if I tried to remove the cover i may not be able to put it back as it may break.

i think they want more money

I have heard of some of these lights being one unit but they should still be removable... How will a dealer fit one? Have a go and THEN order one if it breaks, not the other way round! B)

i think it's gonna be another trip down to the dealers to get a price for the unit. probably expensive.

I have removed mine to clean. Its easy. Its not glued, it clips on. With the hatch fully open, grip the sides of the cover and pull vertically down (i.e. toward the ground) then pull the rear of the cover away from the hatch trim. There is a spring clip there that pops out. the cover will then lift away. Inside the cover is the LED light strip, which can be removed from the cover if you wish.
