The Yeti's new Kia opposition

Featured Replies

I'm liking this. Must be one of the few concept cars that escaped as drawn with oversized wheels in tact! The massive C-pillar is distinctive but must make it hell to park. I prefer my blocky, airy Yeti though.

And if the Yeti's tangerine orange had looked as smashing as this I'd have gone for it. But as it stands it is a very half hearted orange that Skoda is now going to fob off on us if the Fabia's "orange" is anything to go by.

Kitten and I did look at the Sportage but preferred the Sorento, but sadly Kia have gotten greedy and increased their prices in recent years.

We only looked at them for the 7 year warranty.

Then we found the SM

Like all the other Jap offerings, it lacks a strong identity... a bit too samey with the Hyundai iX35 and the Mitsubishi ASX which are all cheaper rip-offs of the Ford Kuga / Nissan Qashquai. Get a few of them on the road and you won't take a second look.

Maybe I'm biased (of course I am! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ) but, as someone else stated elsewhere, the Yeti has far greater road presence. Saw another one today in Muscovado - really nice!!!

We're all biased Dave, that's why we're here :D

Firstly it's not Jap.

Secondly the reason its "too samey" with the i35 is that it is (essentailly) the same car.

With a view to changing before winter I have tested both the Yeti and the i35 and and am impressed with both, although I thing the extra warranty on a Hyudia or Kia might swing my decision.

I too tested the Hyundai i35 and although it was good it had a load of body roll in the corners and it has nowhere near the same quality feel that the yeti has. I got out of both cars and asked myself the question, which feels like a £20,000+ car and im afraid the Hyundai with the roll, cheap plastics, was nowhere near. The yeti was a class act in my opinion and it stands out from the whole seemingly new brand of same shape cars like i35, Sportage, Kuga etc.

Everyone to their own tho.

Beast for me everytime !!!....

The Kia Sportage and Hyundai i35 may be Korean owned but are built in Slovakia. And the Qashqai is built in Sunderland!

All these manufacturers look at what their customers want and then deliver it - unlike Skoda in the last year who go out of their way to ignore customer expectations!!

Rather harsh ,can you expand on your comment so we can have a intelligent dialogue.

Sounds like you've had a bad experience! Personally, I'd say Skoda have delivered above customer expectations with the Yeti. I'm over the moon with mine. True, it's disappointing for those who currently want a sunroof as an option and the waiting list is 4 months plus but... and it's a big but... this is only because Skoda's expectations for the Yeti were lower than they should have been.

I like it :o and I love the colour B)
