That's a big claim coming along now.

What a mess, bet theyre well pee'd off :(

He's lucky he didnt hit the end of the wall with the gate post head on.

What was his excuse for losing it on a straight section of carraigeway at that time of the morning?

Christ surprised he didn't go through the farm house wall :(

Actually there is a bit of a corner before hand, but quite capable of being taken at the NSL. People generally crash going the other way, and end up smacking a tree or the postbox.

No pics, but I've seen a C0r$@ that had been inverted into a ditch on a straight road.

Hmm you might have fun when the insurance notice the non standard wheels and other parts on that Corsa.

Good luck and it seems like say driver may have been acting like a bit of a tool, or just got super cheap tyres with the oversized after market alloys.

"Castle of Comfort" :D Ironic as I bet it wasn't comfortable for the driver? :D

I know that road well and that corner is much sharper when you're driving it than it looks from above! The amount of stupid driving I've seen on that stretch I can easily see how he would have lost it there. It's a corner between two long, straight roads that people regularly fly down at 80mph+ In fact I was driving it on Friday and was overtaken by an Audi S5 who must have been doing at least 80, passing 3 cars in a row, and missed an oncoming car by about 3 car lengths as it emerged over a blind summit.

I don't think my nerves could take living in a house on a bend like that! There's another one not far away in Blagdon on a 90 degree bend; every time I drive past it I wonder how they sleep at night!

Scary!

I'll add my BMW pictures in a minute, that was a straight section of the road a few hundred yards away!

Cars generally crash in the opposite direction to which the Corsa was travelling, taking the postbox. A nut-job kidnapped at his ex-gf in W-S-M at gunpoint and after giving the police the slip came up past the house, and rolled the car into the field. Went to help and got a shotgun wave at us..... a quick retreat was called for. The armed police arrived after the ambulance (and the helicopter which airlifted the gf to hospital). Some cars have been known to undertake on the pub forecourt and not see the stone verge edge at the end. My father had just come home from work one day on his motorbike, opened the gate (see Corsa picture), and a car came sliding down the road on its roof. A few fibreglass-type sports cars have boshed the trees on the pub carpark too.....

No-one has crashed into the house... yet. But saying that I expect a truck will arrive in the livingroom tonight!

Here are some pics of a BMW which parted company with the road a few days before hand.... now this is a nice straight bit of road.... Was a lovely sunny day. Took 2 tow trucks and a crane (on the back of one of the tow trucks) to get it out from there...... I think the farmers offer of "let me use my tractor" was turned down....

Out of interest, have you have had conversations with the council about it? As you say, there's so many accidents on that road, something needs to be done to slow people down - especially right on the doorstep of a pub (i.e. people pulling out on blind corner). I suppose while people are walking away from these accidents, the council aren't interested since they probably measure in casualty/fatality numbers.

That crossroads further down is a shocker too - always seem to be flowers on it which makes me shudder. Have to admit that I messed up at that junction once when I first moved into the area. Coming from the CoC towards the crosroads late at night in the rain. Was so focussed on carrying straight on, I didn't see the junction coming up and slammed on the brakes too late. Stopped half way across the crossroads. Fortunately no one around but it could have been so much worse. To be fair, they've improved the warning signs quite a lot since then.

I guess the council know the score, and the number of accidents at the CoC is really low these days, previous one was someone doing a 3 point turn in the road to bristol and knocking the wall down - moron :o

There was a fatal accident there 2 weekends ago, I believe. I suspect what you did at that crossroads, is probably what everyone else does. Over the years the sign-age has improved, and the junction has been reworked too, plus I think rumble strips on the approach (or at least lines in the road). As I learnt to drive around the area I have a great respect for that road. One of the hardest things to do is reserve into my parents driveway as generally I have to cross the road (get out and open the gate), and it would only take a corsa numpty to come flying around the corner, panic for seeing a car on the other lane and it would be broken car time, or worse.

I guess quite a few of the accidents are caused by people chancing an overtake of slower moving traffic (caravans, tractors, etc) without really knowing the road (thus suggesting they are not local) and getting caught out.

The pub is another issue, I doubt they would get permission to build a new car park there now. I have found that depending on which way you wish to head, dictates the best place to exit from the forecourt / grass carpark.

Probably, but checking on a certain website it seems to suggest that numerplate is attached to a car which is not insured/taxed, so I guess parking the beemer on the wall caused enough damage underneath to write it off :giggle:
