Hi All

Started to notice that one of the radiator fans frequently runs whenever climate control switched on. Seems to take place very few minutes. Is this normal or is it my fan controller going wrong?

Normal. It has got to blow air over the evaporator somehow. When the car is traveling the air is being forced through it, so no need for the fan.

I would however like to know what the small fan is for.

On my B5.5 Passat the second fan only kicked in when the aircon was struggling in higher temperatures in the 30°C plus range. Made quite a racket as well.

So not in the UK then.
