There is a V6.1 but there is no difference in the Mapping it was just a Bug fix for Seat Cars iirc

Thanks carl for the reply. Mine has V4, was there a 5? Was that different?

Is there a way of finding out what version is on the unit without vagcom??

And anywhere I can get a copy as I dont have one

You need to be able to access the secret menu to get the maps version without Vag-Com, this may or may not be enabled and how to access it varies between firmware versions.

Try rebooting the unit ( < > i ) at the same time and as soon as the skoda logo appears, press and hold setup and keep it pressed for about 30 seconds then let go. If you get a menu that has lots of options on it then you are looking at the menu. For later firmware, press and hold setup and a simple menu appears, keep holding setup and a longer menu should appear.

You will then get something along the lines of

How do you get that to display, I kept my finger on system bottom right button as it started for around 30 secs and thats what came up

When you press and hold the system button the display will cycle as follow

Normal Setup Menu

Radio Service menu

Hidden Test menu

When that appears let go of the button

You will then have a list of options like this

Press Navigation

Press Map info

Your No. will differ depending on map version. 7011 is V6.1 Maps

Thanks for the info Carl, mine is 6317 so possibly a bit out of date, a member has sent me a link to site that I can download the new version but I am clueless when it comes to things like that, I can download it but have not got a scooby of how to slow down the burning

Would any of you like to send me a copy or the original that I can put strait in and I will return it once its done??? hopefully with the speed cams and speed for the roads just PM me and I will give you my address

I will be going to Tavistock on my holls on the 25th July until the 5th of Aug any members around that area got the updated map that I could come round and download??

Speed for the roads is a firmware issue as well as map issue. You need 2684 or higher firmware. You currently have 1004 (old Skool )

Is yours a genuine Unit or a flea bay one. Reason I ask is you need to check the security seals before trying to update or you can brick the MFD3

Yes its a fleabay one but on installing it everything looked OK, I just entered the code and it worked, got me worried now

Assuming everything is OK is the film wear an additional update separate to the maps??? and is it done by inserting a disc and downloading it??? just like the maps

You can update the maps without any problem, its the firmware that may cause a problem. Unless you have a car thats less than 2 years old, leave the firmware otherwise you may have the battery drain issue.

Sadly not, My old car was a 55 plate like yours and i had to change the CAN gateway, worth it though IMO as I wanted ability to play SDHC cards in it.

2684 firmware or higher fixes the battery drain issue.

Only 2664 had the battery drain as it was never intended for release. 2664 was a beta firmware hence the problem.

I have a K revision gateway on my 2007 vRS and I have no issues with battery drain on 2684 firmware.

Not in mine it didn't, nor a friends 2006 Jetta. Maybe be were unlucky or its related to Columbus part number I dont know but both needed newer gateways
