The Best SUV Alongside The Best Off Roader

Went to Cannock Chase this afternoon for a walk and to take a few piccies of the monster with its tinting I had done a couple of weeks ago. For anyone interested, it cost £120. Parked next to the legend in off roading. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Cheers BigHusky! No, it was just a local firm that I found on the internet. It took no more than a couple of hours to do.

Yes, I was near to Birches Valley Cycling Centre. It's a great place and I must get my bike over there soon - didn't have the time today. I'm pretty lucky that I only live 8 miles away.

Are you still into mountain biking and is that why you're needing the ops on your knees?

Not long until you will be taking photos of your monster, eh? emoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

It's funny isn't it? I prefer the chunkier, boxier shape of the Yeti compared to most of its competition but when you see it alongside a Defender, it looks positively sleek and streamlined.

Good posting once again Dave , My demo yeti has privacy tinted windows at the rear . I assumed this was standard on the Yeti , it looks great with the red bodywork,( I must sort out how to post photos) if I ever see another yeti on the road am i correct to assume it will not have tinted windows as standard, nice if this is the case makes my modest yeti a little bit special !

Thanks for the photo's Dave, looking emoticon-0103-cool.gif

As you say looks sleek in comparison but in a number of ways very similar, such as the wheel arches, roof line and side profile.

Regards,

TP

The Yeti's windows are tinted as standard but they are the same level of tint all around. There is not, as far as I'm aware, an option for privacy glass from the B pillar back. When I spoke to the guy at the tinting place, he recommended having a 23% tint applied as privacy tint makes the vehicle look like a van - especially a black one. So, that's what I had.

Well, no, not really. As I've mentioned, it's the same level of tint all around in standard form. Part of the reason I had it done (not just for the added bling! emoticon-0103-cool.gif ) was to prevent prying eyes seeing a load of expensive kit in the back (bikes, boats, etc.)

Hi

The Sunset glass (In FInland also provided with the Adventure (SE) spec is not really dark. In the correct light you will see that the windows from the B pillar backwards are a bit darker, but they are not really preventing either view or sunshine, so they are just for looks. If you really want dark windows you will need to get them tinted.

Ok thanks Dave and Raz B)

My rear windows are most definitely much darker than the front , so maybe stealer had it done ,

I got out and took some pictures. As my dealer had failed to provide what I had ordered I have a perfect example of "plain" windows (frotnt door), Sunset window (rear door) and tinted (15%) window on top of Sunset (last window). I tried to order my SM without the Sunset glass as I was anyhow going to get darker windows, but it was not possible. The Sunset glass can also be tinted afterwards if wanted. The job was provided by the Skoda dealer, but done by a separate tinting company.

I will get the rear door window tinted as well as soon as the dealer can arrange a time - hopefully already this week. (I have only had the car one week so far).

Even though the rear window look almost completely black the tinting is barely noticable when sitting inside the car looking out!

Good example of the tints. You can quite clearly see that the sunset glass is slightly darker than the front windows but not by much.

Thanks!

You have quite an impressive SM, it really looks great in black with the tinted rear windows. Nice pics of two great cars.

I do love the look of those foot plates on the side doors - did you get them and the dealer fit them before delivery ??? How much were they and have you got a pic of how they fit to the bodywork ??

Look great Dave.....reckon you must have the nicest looking Yeti on here - blinged up but not OTT and tastefully done

They are the Stainless Steel Side Steps from a German firm called Cobra Technology. I bought them from the sole UK Distributor, a company called Vanstyle (www.vanstyle.co.uk ) and they cost approximately £450.00. Not cheap but they are extremely good quality with inlaid chequered aluminium footplate and rubber lining. I'll try and get a close-up photo posted as they really are very nicely manufactured.

The dealer fitted them just prior to delivery as they did the other bits and charged about £50 for the labour.

Thanks Octy! emoticon-0148-yes.gif How's the Subaru doing by the way?

Hi, Like the running boards, were these an after fit? What's involved in fitting?

Hi Jeep, See previous post. Got the dealer to fit them for me but I think they're pretty straightforward anyway.
