Ways of rejuvenating my black VRS paint work

Featured Replies

Just wanted to know if there are any good ways of rejuvenating the paint work on my black Fabia VRS.

Its a 53 plate so almost 7 years old. So, there are lots of marks & dull patches & lots of 'swirl' marks when its been through an automatic car wash (i dont normally do this but have been lazy a few times!).

Also, some git last weekend opened their door & made a nice red mark/line (they must have had a red car!) against my drivers door - luckily it didnt scrap the paint off but needs buffing up.

I've tried a few AutoGlym products & while they help they dont do a 'professional' job.

Would i be best to ask a Skoda garage to do a full paint work valet or just ask a local repair place.

Any suggestions are always greatly recieved.

Thanks.

Chris

Full Detail really........ the only way to do it. worth paying someone to do it.

To sort it properly takes a lot of time and money. I had my superb done last weekend as it too was covered in car wash damage, the car now looks factory new but it took a whole day more or less with a rotary polisher using professional quality products.

Depending on where you are, send Baker21 a PM - he does a pretty decent job.

If you near Salisbury (Wiltshire), give me a shout!

Got a mate that does detailling in Kent/South East if you are local.

Gets it looking like new! :)

what would one have to fork out for this type of service? Paying a guy or two for full days labour must be expensive..! (not to mention products used/equipment used)

How much are we talking? (if you dont mind me asking)

Whats price should i be looking at if i get a garage/paint shop to do it?

btw - i'm in Worcester.

Forgot to add - got a lot of stone chips in the bonnet. Most of them are quite small. Do these 'buff out' when having a professional buff!!! (lol)

Seen this in Halfords, seems to get good reviews. Might give it a try.

However, I would still like to try a professional & give the paint work a new lease of life!

no...:(

most of the pros on detaling world seem to charge £300+ for major paint correction.

Ivejust bought a DA polisher. would e cheap and more fun doing it yourself

you can damage the paint more sometimes doing it yourself (i have got a fast ford mag with a special on it) i need mine done as its over 10 years old and the paint needs a new lease of life!

Sadly the stone chips remain, you could fill them in advance so that the paint is raised above the surface of the rest of the car. The buffing action will flatten them out.

I am not going to post costs, but have a look at the thread I posted.

Baker21 (Simon) did mine, it took a long time and as the sample photo shows the result is brilliant. Keep an eye for a full thread full of photos on detailing world.
