Breakdown services

Featured Replies

fingers crossed, car's out of warranty and skoda assistance expired, so i'm looking at some kind of breakdown assistance

All I really need is someone who will try and fix the car then put it on the back of a lorry and drive me home - who'se cheapest and best at the moment ?

anybody offering a discount for briskoda ?

anybody any experience of the services offered by autonational rescue or morethan ?

skoda assistance was through the AA anyway, and (i'm surprised you've not been) I was mailed a mailshot by the AA with an offer to continue for another year @ a tad over

(i'm surprised you've not been) I was mailed a mailshot .

I'm partially suprised i've not had any attempt to sell me either a breakdown renewal or warranty extension, but on the other hand given past experience with one of the other breakdown services, I'm surprised when they get anything right

AA have always been good for me.

Having said that RAC never caused any problems either.

I use 'Britannia Rescue' myself never let me down yet, reasonable cost and you get discount if you work for the Civil Services or NHS, or are a member of Unison.

AA is the best.

I have NU Direct Breakdown Cover for both my cars.

The AA have been superb both times I've needed to call them (both pre Skoda  )

Quite a few Insurance companies now offer a recovery service so might be worth talking to whoever insures your car. These are I gather simply recovery services so they wont try & fix your car, simply take you to a garage or your destination but I have used them a couple of times with the Subaru (YES they do break down more than Skodas).

Once was in Italy & Green Flag brought the car back completely in tact, even the digital camera was still in the glove box & they knew it was there because the roof aerial had been removed & put in the glove box, they even delivered it to Scoobysports for the neccesary repairs (big Subaru Bill).

Second time was with Direct lines service when the Scoob blew a piston about 20 miles from home, told them I was going to Scoobysports for some work to be done & they took the car to Basildon (feckin great Subaru bill)

I think the moral is, if you have a Subaru get a recovery package, youll need it !! With a Skoda get one for peace of mind

I recently signed up for Tesco breakdown (Green Flag) as they were much better value than the AA and I didn't like the pushiness of the AA sales girl. Also had the opportunity to test them a day later (;)) and they came out within 30 minutes as they said they would.

Unfortunately I'm experiencing the opposite ;) Scooby was the most reliable car I've owned and as a result, I've only just taken out breakdown cover (after 10 years of driving 2nd hand cars!).... :)

Sorry to hear that, I guess the only consolation is Skuds are a tadge cheaper to fix.

Yep and to run! Two new tyres today set me back 104 quid (inc tracking!). *sigh* I paid more than that for one SO3 on the Scoob!!! ;)
