pre-FL vs. FL wing mirrors

Featured Replies

Is it just me or are the FL wing mirrors massive compared to the pre-FL? Why the change?

I'd just gotten used to it over time but when i first picked up the FL, now i remember thinking it was like Fisher Price "My First Wing Mirrors". Last night i saw pre-Fl and FL next to each other and pre-FL looks about right but FL looks like they left it in oven too long :-o :giggle:

Why?!

You can see plenty in them though i.e. plods up slip roads :giggle:

They are just generic now I think, Audi A3's, Mk6 golfs etc all have the same mirrors!

Fisher Price! :giggle: I agree they are awful, that is what stopped me buying another Lexus too , so OBTRUSIVE!

Could just get some pre FL mirrors from a scrappy then? :giggle:

How you finding the joys of Skoda ownership then? Seen you're a Beemer man at heart, I love them too but I had nothing but trouble with mine!

Haha aye i wrote it on my profile :giggle: Still love my big bus but not all that impressed with modern BMWs in my price range  if i had more money though i'd be back in the BMW stable :giggle:

Haven't looked back with the Skoda. The Vrs TSi engine has to be one of the best 4 pot engines you can buy. Only thing i'd wish for is the option for the bigger engine from the Cupra R or the S3 in the Vrs. Really happy chappy.

BMW's can be expensive to run but between a cracking main dealer (would price match euro car parts and would give 15-20% off dealer only stuff) GSF and ECP and a bit of blood sweat and tears you can keep the prices reasonable.

What did ya have?

So...Is the FL Octavia Mirror housing the same as Audis and Golfs???

Confused now

I had a 55 plate 530d M sport, lovely car, had it mapped from superchips too so it was a bit of a flying machine :giggle:

It was just stupid niggling little problems like the Idrive kept crashing, parking sensor problems, tyre pressure monitor always saying i had a puncture when i didnt - and to top it all off the dealer was useless.

Picked by brand new octy up about 2 months ago now and never looked back, one of the best cars I've ever driven!

If you want a bit more oomph get a remap done, can't recommend Ben @ Shark enough!

mk6 golf is quite different.

are you 100% sure about the a3?

Yep, same ones as the Audi S5 at least :o

are you sure? a friend has a 2010 A5 3.0 tdi and the mirrors are similar, but not actually the same.

Yeah I'm pretty sure, one of the guys at my work has a 2010 A5 and the mirrors are identical :giggle:

I've just been sat in my new Scout that I pickup next week. I really like the new mirrors. Visability is excellent compared to my pre FL Elegance.

Yes but so is a Dressing table mirror ,but you wouldn't want that stuck on either side of your car! :giggle:

But new mirrors are so useful. I do not need to turn it down when reverse parking anymore.I can see and tarmac under my rear tyres and NASA shuttle in the space :)

LOL :giggle: :giggle:

If you look closely you will see that the pre FL door mirrors are the same as on the last generation of the VW Polo...

Don't know whether it is just me, but the angled shape of the outer casing seems to somehow reflect in the lower R/H corner of the mirror - I have done a double take several times pulling out - thinking a vehicle is just coming into view behind me :o

  • 2 weeks later...

ok, this has been bugging me.. i've been looking at Audi mirrors to see if the statements made on this thread are correct regarding the octavia mirrors being the same as fitted to some other vag vehicles.

As far as I can see the octavia mirror is NOT the same as either A3, A4 or A5. Similar yes, but not the same.
