Warning Light Error Code Help - Recent Fabia Owner Now Distraught!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Had my Fabia for 2 weeks now, all has been superb, untill today! :(

Car was fine when i drove to work as it has been and then at lunch, i turned it on and to my horror i found loads and loads of error lights come on!

Major panic set in. I turned it off, they all went bar the orange engine management light. Since then they haven't come back, but only the engine management light.

Now the car, drove absolutely fine no problems whatsoever. ??

I nipped down to my local skoda garage, only a mile or so away from work, and they read the system.. Came back with quite a few problems apparently but none make any sense to me so i was hoping someone on here could help.. :(

Since they looked at it though, I have had no lights at all on a 30mile trip home, re started engine a few times since and nothing :S major confusion. Im not brilliant with electronics so ill put down the faults and see what you think..

Invoice for diagnostic check stated:

"Found Can Bush Faults In System, Further Wiring Checks/Tests Required"

Obviously a dealer would want the car back to keep making money but id rather not if possible, and all i can make out from the list below is that possibly/hopefully i need a new battery..?

Thats it!! To me, it seems like thats it, the car is ruined. But hopefully to someone else they could help me work out, or test things to get it ok. On dirving it home, no problems at all, everything worked as it should.

They only thing i can get from this is the "driving battery voltage signal too low" error code. Do i need a new battery, I know from previous cars that if the battery isn't great or dying, it can cut everything else out? Shall i buy a replacement tommorrow and just hope it will continue to be ok!??

Apologies this is so longwinded, i appreciate any knowledge.

Thanks

James

It probably just needs a new battery. Make sure alternator charge light is coming on when you turn on ignition, and that it goes out when you start the engine. Common fault is a broken alternator sense wire on a plug on the gearbox.

The Fabia does tend to throw out a stack of spurious codes if the battery is past it's best.

Agree with the above, especially if it still has the original battery. Why is there no scan of the steering system?

I will try a new battery tomorrow and also look at the wire too thank you. Alternator charge light? Is this known as as another symbol as im not quite sure which one you mean sorry?!

I do think its the original battery, and at 100,000 miles probably best i change that tomorrow.

There was a scan of the electric power steering system, along with a few other things about 9 or 10 i think , however they didn't report any faults so I didn't upload the details of them, only the problem ones.

Other name for alternator charge light "Ignition Light"

Thanks for that, in which case, yes it comes on and then goes off.

Excellent, pretty sure a shiny new battery will fix all your problems.

I hope so.

Strange how all those could have been caused by a dying battery, but aren't showing now. Only thing i can think of is between me arriving at work, and then stating it at lunch time, the alarm went off, which could have drained some battery, so when i fired it up, not everything worked...?? Maybe??

Anyhow, ill buy one tomorrow, probably from Halfords as thats my nearest bet? Any recommendations?

Power steering draws 60 amps, and is a battery killer.
