Rear Door Dead-locked

Featured Replies

Can anyone help? About three months ago the nearside rear passenger door on my 02 Octavia suddenly dead-locked, having been temperamental for a while (sometimes locking, sometimes not). My car was due a service so I took it to my local Skoda garage in South London; they thought that they would probably have to damage the door to get it open and didn't know how long it would take, possibly a few hours + what ever parts were needed. Since the service was already going to cost £900 for the other things that needed doing I decided to live with the door for a bit longer.

Does anyone know how to get the door open and what the problem is? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Many thanks,

Christian

It might be worth seeing if you can trace the wiring and apply voltage (or ground) to the solenoid. Taking the door apart if it isn't openable will cause damage - the extent will vary depending on competence.

Hi

Could you send it to me 2? having difficulty opening my rear passenger door.

Please can you send it to me too. I'm having the same problems.

Do a quick search for a post from me about my door being stuck, it should help you. The part was about £120 from Skoda and a few hours hard work and the door lock was removed and replaced. My door now locks and unlocks with no issues!!

The hardest part is actually getting the door to unlock and it really is trial and error pushing on the pins (really requires a second person to assist with opening the door once the lock has released, just in case it locks again when you release the pins)

I'm not very confident with fixing cars (no mechanical background) and I managed it

The lock is controlled by a module attached to the window motor. The only external wires are 2 power, 2 CAN bus and a ground.

It's always worth removing the trim on the 'B' pillar and pushing/pulling the wires that go to the rear door. If the cause is a broken wire, this may enable you to unlock the door.

It's also worth checking the common power points at the base of the RH 'A' pillar.
