Cruise Control Stopped Working

Featured Replies

I have a 51 plate Octavia VRS. Tonight on the way home the cruice control stopped working. I read that on later models this can sometimes be linked somehow to the brake lights, last week I noticed that the brake lights were stuck on. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. I am looking to sell the car in the next month or so, its only done 85k from new and its the only fault so am very keen to rectify it as soon as possible,

Many thanks for any help

Stuart

Yes its usually linked to the brake light switch. Mine failed a few months after I got the car and it was the brake light switch. It is built into the pedal box above the brake pedal IIRC and isn't too expensive or difficult to replace. The dealer did mine under warranty.

seconded. just get the switch replaced.

Thank, is it a dealer only part, rouhly how much are we talking?

mmmm

mine stopped one time,

I couldnt for the life of me think what it was, no matter what I did it wouldnt work,

All I did was Vag Com it and for some reason it worked ?

You can buy the part and fit it yourself, get a Haynes manual it explains how to fit it. Unfortunately the forum doesn't go back far enough to find a thread with pics of someone who has done it themselves.

Heres a cheap one on ebay, the dealer ones will be probably 4 times the price at least, plus an hours labour to fit it.
