fabia advice please

Recommended Posts

Hi there, sadly the day had come that my trusty felica is due to become a large bent and twisted blue dice shaped car.

looking at replacing her and came across this fabia est just after some advice as to whether folk think its looks to be about the right money and is it something you'd go in for?

this will either get me some sound advice, or give someone else a heads up for a new car.

any smatterings of advice greatly recieved.

cheers

Looks like a bargain, as long as you check the service book/cambelt on time etc etc it should be a sound purchase! That engine is good for double that if looked after.

As has been said, check the cam-belt (every 4 years/60k), and that the oil service intervals have been adhered to. Other things to look for are the leaking rear doors (DIY fix is possible), and also have a look at the metal/paint on the rear sills behind the wheel-arch liner - where the liner dangles over/in front of the sill, it can rub (it can actually take the paint off and start to rust). Also, may be worth investigating the state of the dual-mass flywheel (apparently the go noisy/clattery when they start to wear)), and that the clutch isn't slipping (obviously, at those miles it may have been replaced, or may be on it's way out).

The price is good but the mileage is a bit high at 18,000 miles a year.

Not unusual though but worth checking the history - when we first got our Fabia estate it was clocking 25,000 miles a year due to the wife's daily commute...
