Fabia 1.6 Tdi CR 90hp

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I wonder if any one can help me please. I have test driven a new Fabia 1.6 Tdi CR 90bhp, and liked it. - build quality looks good etc. However, before I take the plunge, I'd like to know if Skoda has fixed the door seal problem/s in their design/manufacturing process since it began to occur. I read that they changed the sealant type? Also, are there any other "features" I can expect to experience? (There was a squeak from the dashboard on the demo carI). I do about 20k miles a year. Any help/tips would be great - Thanks (I posted this on the 'Introduce yourself' post by mistake!)

Thanks

I have a pre face lift and don't have any door seal problems.

The fabia is a well put together car althought some of the fittings and materials are not as solid as my old fabia 55reg

Thanks for replying. I'm only a little secptical because of the water leaks, steering rack/ power steering issues talked about on this site. I've looked at the Mazda 2, and Corsa, but to me the Skoda looks and feels a better build quality. What mileage has your done?

I've done just over 19K now, no leaking problems. perhaps it's just a batch

in any case if you're buygin new there is no reason why the dealer won't sort out a fault with door seals. They obviously can't use the excuse of wear and tear on a new car.

FZS1...there are no major intrinsic faults/problems with the Fabia's. Glove box lids can rattle on just a few cars but is easily fixed by yourself or the dealer. Like fabia55 mine is a pre-facelift model and is the estate. I've owned it from new. It's bullet proof. No leaks of any kind. No problems or adjustements needed. Just drive it and enjoy. In fact the Mk1 Fabia was a good car too but it went on to develop minor niggles with suspension, plastic waterpump impellers, and the odd water leak. Those problems have been built out on the Mk2 Fabia's and the new facelift models will be the same apart from the grill and some detail differences. Buy with confidence. Any problems experienced on this site by people are going to be isolated cases that you can get with any manufactures product. You just get less problems with Skoda. Am I biased...you bet I am! I've tried the rest now I consider I have the best. And by the way...my car has a hard life and carries a lot of weight including a third of a ton of bathroom tiles last week.

What are the revs when driving at about 70mph?

Why don't you get the 105bhp version? I heard it was £220 more or something and the economy is the same according to the figures on the website.

Agree, the 90hp seems daft... the 75hp is signifcantly cheaper but the 105hp not a lot more so seems the 90hp is a bit redundant.

I agree they're close in price, and I suspect there's not much in it in performance: the 90 has a respectable 230Nm torque, which is only a fraction lower than the outgoing 1.9 and not much less than the 105's 250.

Perhaps significantly there is no 105 available in the Polo.

I think the main benefit in going for the 90bhp is probably in insurance savings.

An extra 15 bhp in a small car makes quite a big difference in performance . I wasn't aware that the 1.6TDI 105 bhp was available in the Fabia as it's not available in the new Polo. The extra cost sounds well worthwhile.

I have ordered the 1.6 105 bhp tdi , i cannot see the point of the 90bhp, although i drove a 90 not the 105 and it was ok but not quite the bees knees as ther 105........

Splendid news Brimo. Please give us all a complete report on the car once you have it. The 105bhp seems the one to go for, but the 90 is ok and slightly cheaper on insurance. The real anomaly is the 75bhp version which is substantially less powerful and much slower than my 1.4TDI PD 80 3cyl engined version.
