Same as DFS sale........

ha...must end saturday then!

ha...must end saturday then!

...and then start again on Sunday.

Cant see this ever ending.

can you imagine any car dealer adding 20% back on to the price of their car??

I think the reason the prices went up in may was becuase Skoda were pre-empting an increase in vat so added the 2% or so to allow for this.

I hope you guys are right. Will probably be in a position to replace the wifes Fabia with an Octy vRS by this time next year. Had thought about breaking the bank to order one before the deal ends but it's not worth it for a car.

As you say, if they end this deal on Jan 1st, their prices will effectively go up by 20% overnight. I can't see that having a good effect on sales so hopefully it'll be a rolling offer.!

Note that the VAT-free offer (at present) only extends to cars delivered before 31 December.

So who's going to order a new car after, say, beginning of September then?

Marketing Department haven't really thought this one through, have they?

This is correct. My order form explicitly says that if there are VAT changes I would have to pay the difference - so presumably if the new car is delivered AFTER 4th Jan 2011, there will be another 2.5% to pay... (i.e., 20% -17.5%)

The way I read it is that you don't know what extra you will have to pay. Strict interpretation of the SUK offer is that if delivery is after 31 Dec 2010 the current 'no VAT' offer doesn't apply - that means that the actual price to be paid would be subject to whatever 'offer' replaces the current one - if any - regardless of the VAT rate at the time (which we know will be 20% if the Finance Bill gets through).

As I said, Marketing Department haven't thought this one through (no surprise there then). Uncertainty big style from beginning of September

I was in a dealers on Saturday for a test drive whereupon the salesman who was brilliantly knowledgeable about everything else so I have little doubt that he knew what he was talking about with this, said if you order before the end of August Skoda will pay whatever the VAT is even if your car is delivered next year, if however you ordered from September onwards you would have to pay the extra VAT i.e. the expected 2.5%.

He might be right - but that ain't what it says on SUK website

PS - if it was me I would get that in writing before ordering

Get it in writing!

I think the offer has only ever covered the rate of vat applicable at the point of ordering. I checked because I ordered my VRS the week before the budget and if the vat rise had been applied before delivery I'd have been looking at an extra £400+. The only thing different from the end of June is that the previous offer was "ordered" before end June whereas now its delivered before end Dec.

Has anyone ever paid the full price including vat? :wonder:
