Boosting

Featured Replies

I ve jus re fitted a new engine and turbo to my vrs. Its been mapped intercooler ect ect. It used to run around 2 bars of boost. It s now running 4 bars and going no where. Very slow. Can anyone shed light on what the problem could be ??????

If you're actually running 4 bar at the MAP, and still got no power, I think you must have a blockage in the pipes between the MAP and inlet ports, or else you've got no valve lift.

Otherwise the EMS is in limp mode because you've got an implausible boost level, which you certainly do!

Second for too much boost - standard's only 1-and-a-bit bar I think, so on a very-very-very rough estimate, 4 bar ought to be matched with enough fuel to get you something like 400bhp...

Further thought - either you have a healthy car with a duff boost pressure sensor, or a blockage which means you're getting huge boost pressure but no airflow.

Check the N75 vacuum is working, and the line to the VNT is connected properly. 4 BAR is way over boost and closed VNT will give those kind of figures.
