Coilovers

Featured Replies

Here's mine with a very safe drop. My cars theme is "undercover"!

Bumper grilles were off at the time, as I had been cleaning the car (you can spot one on the steps behind!).

Finally removed that rear chrome strip from the boot handle now, so ignore that bit. Looks better without I think.

Apologies for the darkness. The Crackberry doesn't have the biggest of lenses!

Pretty much how I hope mine will look Bodge

Although your wheels don't have half as many scuffs as mine LOL and what happened to your mudguards? :S

Well they're on. And I think it might be the best £600 I ever spent on the car :D

Looks very similar height to yours Bodge, you would have to see the springs to know it has coilovers fitted (springs which are yellow by the way, I thought they were supposed to be green? :S ). Went to a festival this weekend and drove it through a bumpy field with no problems. I'll try and get a picture up during the week.

It handles a lot better through corners now although still doesn't tuck in that nicely so a rear ARB is next on the list. The thing I'm most impressed with is the improvement in acceleration. The rear is now so stiff that when I floor it the car stays almost level rather than the front coming up so the front wheels just grip and go.

To quote the guy at AmD my old suspension was "f**ked" so if anyones wondering how long a standard VRS suspension lasts, not much more than 120k miles

nice one:>

told you it was worth it

did you find out about what amd did for nuts and bolts?

yes you really need an arb on the rear, 25mm at least imo........

Was tempted to get the 24mm Whiteline but think that will be too much oversteer, might just get the 22mm adjustable and have it on the hardest setting.

25mm is not too much, my car when it had standard front arb was perfectly balanced

Pics... think it's fairly close to what you've got Bodge. Are the springs supposed to be yellow by the way? I thought Weitecs were green? :S

25mm would be too much with a standard 19mm FARB IMO , unless you are changing the FARB to some like the 23mm R32 one a RARB 22mm should still be ok. I still have the 22mm with my Golf R32 FARB fitted. And handling is good. Mind you the rear bushes are now shot so these are next on my list hopefully over the next few days.

Yellow springs gosh that is strange

Weitec Hicon GT's are green springs unless a recent change has happened. Are you sure they are Hicon GT's

Great result there, car looks good. I found the handling was also a lot safer, in terms of response. If you have to suddenly swerve around something to avoid an accident, it's a real life saver.

Not seen the yellow springs before, maybe they are from the KW assembly line instead! The green bits on the struts are also new, the only green on mine are the springs. Maybe they've changed their design recently.

I never saw the packaging as they were ordered in by AmD who did the fitting.

I should have asked for the box and instructions afterwards really but all I got after the work was done was the adjuster spanner. They're down as HiCon GTs on the invoice though so will have a look at them over the weekend (I think there are markings on the springs and dampers).

As you say Bodge the KW springs are yellow so maybe they've just changed the design and are now using springs off the KW production line. Also the rear dampers came with their own bump stops built in so they didn't have to fit a new set of Skoda ones.

I also didn't think HiCon GT's had the two springs on the front damper (tighter coiled top spring and looser coiled main spring) I thought that was only on KW V3s? :S

most coilys have 21 springs, the main and a top smaller helper spring, gts do have 2 springs.

I guess it comes to driving preferences Bowders, when i had my 19mm bar on the front with my eibach rear my car was really well balanced
