Trouble folding up the central rear passenger seat?

Featured Replies

Hi

This is for anybody who, like me this weekend, couldn't suss out how to fold up and tuck in the central passenger seat without it banging into the back of the drivers arm rest/storage box.

The rear left and right hand side passenger seats fold up and then, by lifting the metal lever at the rear of each seat, will then fold/lift again so they are fully tucked in behind the two front seats.

However, the middle rear seat is different.

You have to do the first 'fold' and then actually unclip it from its mounting rail using the two little levers underneath. Now lift it up and you'll see it has two rubber 'feet' on the bottom like stubby little legs.

These will hold it in a a vertical position while you use the retractable bungee hook that comes out the 'top' of the folded seat to secure the top of it to, say, the front passenger head rest. This is the only way, barring of course removing all the back seats completely, that you can fold up all three rear seats completely and is in practice really easy- once I had been shown how to do it. Thanks again to Vindis Skoda Cambridge for showing me how its done- nice one guys!

Cheers,

Al.

Your right, didn't believe you at first as I had read somewherethat you just had to take off the headrest, and had previously only partially folded it to check everything worked, but just tried it! Strange design. Oddly on mine one of the catches won't re-engage, I have to drop the seet down which seems to force it into place when the lever hits the floor.

i have folded the middle seat up a lot and never had to take it off. fold the seat down flat with headrest removed then push down on the very front of the backrest pull the release catch and it will go down a little more and fold up no problem. dont forget to hook it to the front headrest or it will drop down when least expect it. hope this helps

Mayby a difference between the centre console in your SE and my Elegance, as removing the headrest is not sufficient in mine to get enough clearance to fold the seat upright.

it took me 2 or 3 attempts to fold mine first time but found you have to push the seat back down hard wile holding the release lever up then release the lever and it will lock 2inches lower than just dropping it down as an arm rest.

I think it has two stages because the lower stage would make it to low at the front when using the cup holders mine will not fold in the first stage

ps.. will post some pictures if it helps let me know

Having tried the trick of quickly unlatching, lifting and standing in place, this seems a better solution than having to take off the headrest first and wondering where to store it. The little feet on the seat for it to stand like this suggest this is what skoda intended?

I will try your method though out of interest.
