Correction Detail - 2001 Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Today's mission was to breath a bit of life into this 2001 Octavia vRS. The car is owned by Bandit Barron, who I've got to know quite well over the years from selling him a few bits and pieces.

Plan for today was for Dave to clean the car, cook the bacon, keep the drinks coming and in return I work my rotary magic on his swirlage!

Now, I've seen some pretty swirly cars in the past year or two, but...

VEEEERY swirly! :doublesho

I tried LOTS of combinations, but finally settled on Megs #105 with a Sonus SFX1 pad, and Megs #80 on a Sonus SFX3 pad. For some reason I was struggling a little with Megs #205, as it wouldn't finish down properly on some panels, so opted for #80, which isn't something I'd used much previously, but it's great stuff!

A few 50\50's:

I didn't get many 50/50's due to the amount of bacon I had to get through, but here are a couple of afters:

Remember, none of those pics have any wax or sealant on yet, something which Dave is going to do next weekend. Not bad for a 9 year old car...

The paint was RIDICULOUSLY hard in places and at times I thought I'd been defeated, but after tweaking my technique and pad choice, I managed to get it all corrected in about 6 hours or so. It wasn't perfect, with some RDS's remaining, but 90% or so corrected I'd say.

That was a challenging one!

Thanks for the hospitality Dave :)

Cheers,

Russ.

You're a magician?

Fantastic result.

Very nice work there Russ and I have had similar problems with Megs 205 on VAG paint aswell.............. :S

Glad to see your still around and about................

Was the paint lacquered all over?

Welcome Russ, a great first post :)

Great correction, well done B)

Nice one! All my paint corrections so far have been on VAG machinery, and the paint is ultra tough. I have used the toughest pad I have on each one initially as the others simply wouldn't cut it.... (pun intended) :D

Wow looking good, seen a Mk1 Red RS the other day coming over the road, they still look sweet.

fantastic job
