Rain Sensing wipers go off randomly

Featured Replies

I've taken delivery of a new Superb and love it.

However it has the auto wipers function and I believe (from my previous car) that to put it in rain sensing mode, that you have to move the wiper stalk up one notch to the 'intermittent mode'.

I have done this but every 5-10 mins it goes off, however sometimes it doesn't go off for 30 mins +.

This is really bugging me.

Shall I take it back to Skoda?

Any help would be grateful!

Thanks

if you leave the rain sensing wipers on, turn down the sensitivity otherwise you will get the symptoms you describe. Move the switch on top of the wiper stalk all the way to the left for the least sensitive setting and your false positives should reduce. Things such as shadows and streetlights confuse the wiper sensor which is behind the rear view mirror on its mount.

its a common misnomer that the auto wipers should be left in auto position. I leave mine off all the time and only use the rain sensing mode when it starts raining, where they are a godsend and save constantly fiddling with the intermittent setting.

And if you leave the car with open windows, locked doors and rain sensor enabled, windows will close if it starts to rain :)

ahh, that's lovely, thanks!

Just what I was looking for, turned out that it was set on the highest sensitivity.

Thanks Again :D
