Impossible to remap 1.4TSi DSG

Featured Replies

Superchips tell me that it can't be remapped through the diagnostic port because of the new VW/Audi protection system or something.

Unless anyone knows otherwise....

wouldnt worry about that. bluefin = slow :giggle:

some ECUs are protected with an encrypted code to stop remapping. They are being remaped by tuners removing the ECU and programming it direct

Try Ben at Shark performance, think he sells the STS system for the latest TSi engines.

the STS has the smae issues as the bluefin handset. the encryption stops maps being loaded via the serial port under the steering wheel. he can remove it and remap that way as far as im aware

Wasn't sure how they work just seen them advertised on his website, while looking at what he could do for MK1 Octy VRS.

Sure someone will soon crack the codes, Nissan said same when GTR was launched, plenty of them running round with big BHP figures.

Some of the newer ECUs are encrypted, but not all. It isn't possible to know without knowing the ECU numbers in question.

Either way, remapping it isn't a problem but the ECU may need to come out to do the job.

my 2010 octavia was fine no problems getting it mapped

where abouts in plymouth you from pal, im from southway

there you go then, get i done

Is there actually any benefit to getting a 1.4TSI remapped? What sort of power increase are we talking about?

the 1.4tsi is pretty underpowered for such a heavy car,

remapping it would make a huge difference to the drivability of the car. not sure of the increases but id bet 20-30hp+ increase

I wouldn't have said it was particularly underpowered, you don't choose the 1.4 if you're after performance... I think it's a bloody good all round engine to be fair.

It feels underpowered to me... wish I'd gone for the 1.8 ;)

the best thing about remapping turbo'd and supercharged cars is the increase in torque which is much more substantial thn the increase in Bhp, which is ultimately what helps your car accelerate. torque is what pins you to your seat.

a remap would realy make the car more drivable. revo and shark performance both offer a trial, however from what i have read on the forums when revo load their trial onto the car it is never entirely off and can cause issues when somone else trie's to remap he car

What effect does a remap have on the warranty?

if you get an engine issue, you will void your insurance. chances of them seeing or noticing a remap are slim but if they look they can see. its even more obvious when they drive it.

Irrelevant of what any tuner says the dealers can tell if your car has been remapped, they just have to specifically look for it.

The way around that is to go for a bluefin or shark performance and then in the case of an issue, you can load the standard map back on the car, when/if there is an issue or service due.

My Scout is week 16 (April) this year and it has an encrypted ECU.

revo also do this with theres as well as ive got it done on my vrs

no it doesnt.

The revo remap overwrites the std map completely.

what they do is udjust the revo map on your ecu.

one settings is the performance map, and the other is a wound down version of the revo map similar in performance, boost etc, to the stock map. So whilst it might well feel like the stock map, it isnt

what they do is upload two maps to your ecu.

No they don't mate, only room in there for the 1 map :)

they wind the settings back to the same as the std map then. either way its still not the std map
