17" steelies on a vRS?

Featured Replies

Are there any off the shelf 17 inch steel wheels that will fit directly to the Octavia vRS???

I'm not too bothered about design as I'll probably stick some sext wheel trims on there :p

Not in 5x100 I don't think, maybe in 5x112?

The only 17" steel wheels you will find with the correct PCD, are Renault Espace steels. They are mega rare so I doubt you'll find any. I think I managed to find one wheel a couple of years ago!

I ended up with the biggest VAG offering available, so I've got 16"x6.5" VW steels.

I'm looking for a set of 16" steels for my snow tyres, pee'd off with swapping tyres, what model are your VW wheels off? Were they a direct fit without PCD adaptors?

Anything from the A4 chassis will work. So Mk1 Leon's, Mk4 Golf's, Mk1 Octavia's and Beetles. You need 16" if you have the vRS front brakes.

This is the wheel you want: http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_IV--1.8T/Wheels/OEM_Steel/ES248394/

They are 16"x6.5" ET42 PCD 5x100. Direct fit so nothing else required. It's pretty hard to find a complete set of this size at times, but they do crop up on here or ebay. I've just had mine blasted and powdercoated gloss black.

I think they are about £50-60 each new. Second hand set should cost you about £100.

Thanks Bodge, do you know if VW 16" Transporter Steels would fit? Can get a set of them quite cheaply.

Nope, the PCD will be wrong (you need 5x100, and they are 5x120), so you'd need (expensive) adapters. Not to metion they will be beefy as hell, as they are designed to take much higher loads.

My friend has the opposite problem! He has a T4 VR6 van and wants some nice wheels, but wants to stay safe and only get high load specific wheels. Can't blame him, I wouldn't want a wheel breaking on me!

I found you a set!! £100 so the right money: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/16-VW-steel-wheels-5x100-Golf-mk4-mk3-corrado-Bora-/250669025517?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5d09c8ed

Get them powdercoated and you'll have some nice wheels. MIne were done for £25 a wheel, and I bought the wheels for £80. So £180 for some minters.

Cheers for the replies. Shame, I'll just have to use a set of alloys!
