Fabia handling problem

Featured Replies

I have a w reg skoda fabia 1.9tdi when i drive along a straight road like a motorway the car seems to move from side to side, its not a major movement only a slight one but calls for constant steering correction.

i took it to a garage and they did the tracking (waste of 30 quid) they pointed out that the lower wishbone (lower arm) rear bush had a lot of play in it on the near side and the offside was not far behind, quite common on this car.

the question is does anybody know if this would cause this kind of handling problem, i dont want to pay for it doing if its not the cause of the problem.

Be about right that

Try them bushes there , they will be the ones to fit , they will do the job

Then have the geo done after they are fitted ;)

Feel like a new car , honest

This something someone could fit themselves?

Well you can fit them yourself if you want to smash your car to pieces in anger. they come out with a saw hammer and screwdriver method, but don't go in as easy, had to have a mate machine me a tool to do the job,

done one side which was worse and yes the car does drive better just the other side to do now,

also vw have modified these bushes and are now a lot stronger and solid, you can see the difference the old one had gaps either side making it weak on side to side movement.

£12 pound for part and a few drinks for my mate, mmm bit cheaper than £120 + vat per side i had quoted and bearing in mind they have all the tools ramps set up already skanking gets its things like this that just makes me do the job myself.
