best place to get 312mm brakes from?

Featured Replies

simple question, wheres the best place to get some 312mm discs and claipers from for my vrs fabia which is at the moment strugglin to stop. supply only. cheers

I got mine off ebay, but a breakers would probably be cheaper. Don't go for a brand-new set, that's for sure...

IME, fast road pads will give you as much braking power, although you do run the risk of them overheating if you do trackdays or a lot of 'progressive' cross-country driving. 312s are definitely not essential for the odd spot of sharp braking...

HTH

europerformance

or

ebay

:)

is that right? just a set of fast road pads would still do the job?

oh aye!

grooved discs make a droning noise and drilled discs crack

tbh id just stick with oem discs and pads

Yeah, the only reason I upgraded was that I now have to drive from one side of Snowdownia to the other for work (EVO triangle, anyone?!), and before that I often drove over the fells in the Lake District. So every now and again I'd suffer brake fade with the Mintex Extreme pads I used to have with my standard discs. But if your 25k is mostly dual carriageway / motorway, this is unlikely to trouble you...

Having had dimpled and grooved discs, the only advantage I ever truly saw was that it was easy to tell when they needed replacing, as the disc wore to the bottom of the grooves!

might just try some pads then for starters. which are the best and what kinda cost are we talkin?

I had Mintex Extremes, but they don't make them anymore...

I have a set in the car parts for sale section
