electric folding mirrors... not on my vrs?

Featured Replies

Irish and New Zealand VRS (both RHD) have them as standard!

New Zealand is a stone throw across the water from us - they get electric folding mirrors as standard. But here in australia (a bigger market than nz), doesn't even get the option!!!

both r RHD markets.

uk (much much bigger market that australia) is also rhd - no option there either!

go figure!!!!

i don't think it has anything to do with the production of LHD vs RHD. it has to be the Skoda marketting in each country vs Skoda HQ (factory).

u b nice to HQ, they'll bend over more (than usual) for u.

u mistreat or disrespect HQ, they'll give u the ****s....literally!! looks like someone in Skoda Australia wasn't "friendly" enough to get the electric folding mirrors.

skoda HQ makes n sells enough cars to even care about things like electric folding mirrors being available in a particular market.

On that basis they wouldn't offer them in any market!

I'm now really interested in a believable answer from either UK or CZ. This all just seems bizarre. Maybe I am getting obsessive?

I think there may be reasoning from higher up the food chain... i.e. VAG have something to do with not wanting the cars to have the same kit as their, say, S-Line models, at only half the price. You have to keep people buying the expensive stuff somehow?

I reckon that's a good reason for capping the Octavia at 2.0L engines and not offering a Bose stereo, but not the mirrors as you can probably get electric folders on a Hyundai i30 these days....

I had a Seat Leon in 06/07 with folding mirrors as standard ?

It wasn't far up the VAG food chain but was very hard !! :'( ........(in suspension terms that is.)

Leons have had folding mirrors for quite some time. An 04 PD150 Cupra had them as standard, for example.

The more I think about it, the more there just isn't a sane answer to this issue! :wonder:

Hi,

I wonder if you can help please. I would like to know why electric folding mirrors are not available on the UK Octavia VRS even as an option when they are available in Ireland and other right hand drive markets.

I have an Octavia VRS on order and would certainly have ordered folding mirrors if they were available.

I have asked this question of Skoda UK but they replied:

"The Factory does not explain its reasoning to

Skoda UK regarding what options are available to the UK Market"

I just got this reply:

thank you for your interest in our models. Cars may be really different in equipment because each single Skoda Importer decides on his own what cars, equipment and technical features will be offered in his country. For more details we recommend you contact directly importer in UK.

Thank you for understanding.

Best regards

So UK blames CZ and CZ blames UK. This is Kafkaesque. Quite appropriate I suppose.....

I reckon its the UK that decides so apologies to Keith Lard and any others who said that all along.

I give up on ever knowing why

:D
