? Guys i went down chatting my BBS options and when i said about my 215/35/19 stretched onto the 8x19 :giggle:

i was then told that it would be dangerous and illegal? ;)

does it work dif with a lower profile like the 35/19 rather than say my mates mk2 golf with a 195/50/15 pulled onto a 8x15 ?:|

it did make sence what he was saying that as you stretch it you get less road contact ? but then cars are out there from showroom with say 185 or 195 etc

what to do what to do?

im also thinking then would this be a issue on take and hard acceleration?

and really? how hard is this enforced? surly it would take a fussy coppers eyes to catch onto a small amount of rim sneaking out the arch or tyre lol :p

its not exaclty a rare way to run tyres :)

im sure theres laws for speed tho lol :rofl: its just atleast with the right foot issue its easy to stop if the fuzz our about, but you cant swap wheels as fast lol :yes:

Wheels cannot protrude further out that the widest part of the car bodywork for pedestrian safety reasons.

Also stretched tyres are a stupid and dangerous trend. There is a real danger of the tyre bead moving when cornering and the consequencies could be dire :(

You pays your money and you takes your choice - I know what I'd do but just making you aware of the facts.

They're not dangerous in my experience. F1 used to run stretched tyres and competitive drifters do run stretched tyres so they should be safe enough. I had stretched tyres on my old Polo and never had any issues with them losing air and I used to give it some stick round roundabouts. The snag comes with the appropriate use law. They'll pass an MOT but technically they're not being used appropriately because you're fitting a tyre to a rim that's wider than it's designed for. Depends how pedantic the copper is.

The tread width is 215 but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean it's supposed to fit on a 200mm rim.

even that grid thing i found said 215mm is minimum for a 8j rim, 225-235 is ideal and 245 is max

so even going by that it lol :giggle: should be fine, or it would say minimum 225 rite?:rofl:

nothing to do with wing mirror - check with MOT tester - its so pedestrians are hopefully thrown clear of a dangerous rotating wheel in a car collides with them

The wheel should be as narrow as it can to hold the tyre in the right place! Smaller wheel = less unsprung weight = better road holding = safer car = safer roads etc etc. Also you will get less rotational weight so the car will speed up and slow down faster which would make it more fun and safer!

Big wide wheels and narrow tyres is dangerous and should be banned! Not to mention how bloody stupid ill fitting tyres look.

:giggle: even on the toyo site they say that their 215/35/19 is fine for rims 7,0 - 8,5 :wonder:
