Am I right in thinking that the mk1 octavia 4x4 TDI wasn't sold in the uk? The wife and I went for a road trip for our honeymoon around europe recently and saw loads of them in switzerland.

That is correct, they were not sold in the UK - or certainly not to my knowledge..... as I always faniced one.

If believe both the Mk.1 and Mk.2 TDI where/are sold in the UK.

The Mk.1 4x4 1.9 TDI is very rare tho

Have spent a bit of time in switzerland, the the area I go ( les diablerets ), the Mk.2 4x4 tdi octy has become the car of choice.

Over the other side of the mountain in Gstaad, you don't see any povo Skodas, its all Audi RS6s, S8s & Porsche Cayennes

I think that the mkI TDI 4x4 was 90bhp but they didn't do them in the UK, it was never in the octavia brochure. Probably figured there wasn't a market for them.
