My Colour Coded Grille

Featured Replies

Thought I'd join the bandwagon and paint my grille. Having a silver car I've not seen this done before so thought I'd give it a shot. I also painted the lower grilles and fog light surrounds gloss black.

What do you think?

Looks great Harry

Colour coded grille is a must-mod in my book, makes the MK2's look so much nicer.

Cheers Timmy.

I wanted to retain the 'stealth' look that naturally comes with having a silver vRS but also add a bit of contrast with the black grilles. I'm going to redo the grille surround though as I'm not 100% happy with the finish I achieved!

Very nice, its a shame the VRS's dont have colour coded grilles as standard, a few other manufacturers colour code their grilles on sport models, its like putting a badge marking them as sporty

I like it. Nice work.

Was going to do my front grilles gloss black aswell but wasnt sure, and after seeing this picture i am positive they are getting done.

I bottled it - my friend owns a body shop and did the surround for £40 - perfect finish. Was worth forking out for because I *would* have royally screwed it up :)

Maybe an odd statement but the less chrome, the more it stands out IMO.

;)

tbh, I dont mind the newer MG's, I know some people hate them, but not having owned one Im going on looks alone here :giggle:

Looks good Harry.

Not as good as Carbon though ;) :p

Cost me £12 to do this mod :p

When I have some more time I might consider the carbon wrap route. I quite like the stealth look tho - carbon might stand out a bit on silver.

Cost me £28 for the roll which i still have a lot left so probably worked out about the same :p :p :p

True but the MG colour coded grilles were random as it depended whether Longbridge Larry could be bothered to mask off the bonnet!

Putting a badge marking them as sporty, what, almost like putting a vRS badge on it? :giggle:

You missed the word 'like' at the begining which sort of defines the whole point of that sentence :wonder: and besides ther drivers cant always see the badge very well in the rear view mirror :p ;)

OP - nice touch

:D

Looks really good, i would like to do the this but maybe not with a black car! Too much black might look a little odd!

On the contrary, and yes I am biased, I think the black ones look the best - really aggressive.

Aye I think the colour coded grille only works on black cars. I did past and present black octy's but would not do any other colour.

Hm - I was about to take the p*ss due to it being matt and not 'proper' colour coded, but it actually looks quite cool :giggle:
